My First Hockey Research Paper

I started hockey when I was in first grade, or seven years old. I wasn’t the greatest when I first started, but I always practiced the hardest I possibly could . The thing I remember the most about hockey was when I was little was going to the ice rink every Sunday morning with my dad, which was the part of hockey that I loved the most. At those practices we always worked on the basic fundamentals such as skating and stopping. Now that seems easy, but it once was very difficult for me. After I learned to skate, and stop I started playing on a team. The thing I remember the most when I started playing on a team was scoring my first goal. My first goal was probably the biggest part of hockey that kept me going.
It was at least five O’clock in the morning, the middle of winter and freezing cold. My dad and I,

I got off the bench flying down the ice, I could feel the wind trying to make a barricade against me, but every time I broke through. Once I got the pass from my teammate in the high slot, I gathered all the strength I could and fired the puck, as hard as I could. I was hungry and envious to get that goal. I watched the puck float crisply through the brisk cold air, then it bounced off the goalies stick, hit the crossbar, and went in! Once I knew it was in I had a huge grin on my mug and was filled with happiness I thought “Yes, Yes, Yes”! At that time I could not believe what was going on. To be honest, I ironically hardly remember what happened after that point. All in all that was the toughest and most difficult achievement that I have ever succeeded and the point of my life that gave me a huge boost of confidence and made me feel more inspired to play hockey and work harder in everything I do. Even now I think of that as the most memorable and joyful point of time in my life. The thing I taught myself from that is -”Anybody, can accomplish anything ,at any

As soon as my dad could put a glove on my hand the learning process began and after my first practice I fell in love with the game. From that point on all I did was softball, it was my safe place, my other home and the one thing I knew I could do something great in. I would always want to just throw with my dad or my brother, as little as I was I wanted to show them that I could catch the hard balls they threw. Of course though, I couldn’t but I was in the process of getting there.…

Sometimes, in sports or in life in general, there are favorites and underdogs. There is a general consensus that the favorite team or player will win but sometimes it`s the underdog that wins and receives all the honor related with that win. This is very similar to what I read about Seabiscuit and what I watched in the video of Jason McElwain. Some people have the ability to transcend their underdog status (ie. Red from Seabiscuit and Jason) and create something very special.…

My domination of easily breezing by my neighbors in street hockey and always ranked at the top of stat sheets for scoring in recreational hockey, abruptly ended when I joined my first competitive travel hockey team. My first game exemplified the setbacks my fear imposed on my team when I frighteningly moved out of the way of an enormous player to grant him a free pass to the net in which he scored the game winning goal. Shamefully looking at me as if I were an ally of the other team, I became alienated after my team after they began the tradition of…
