Change can be a nerve-wracking experience for many people. I find this especially true with myself. Ever since I was young, I was not very fond of change. I like finding a routine or pattern and sticking to it. I went through a big change when I young, that I believe greatly influenced me to be this way. At the age of nine, my parents divorced, and I was suddenly moving from Florida to Erie, PA. I had to leave a school where I had many friends and I was not happy about that. The first day at my new school was very scary, however once I got through the first day I loved it! After only three years I switched schools again. Gannon, this is definitely not the case. I definitely feel a stronger sense of freedom and responsibility, and that the professors will not baby the students. However, they still care and are there to help you through whatever you need.
After my first few days at Gannon, I have come to realize the differences between high school and college, but they definitely have their similarities. Such as the students, who still seem to fall into certain cliques and groups. Although, I feel that its easier to not be defined by these groups as in high school. One major difference is the sense of responsibility and the level of adulthood that I feel. I finally feel that I am completely in charge of my education and where I want to go in life. I love following my interests, career path, and taking classes that fit my specific interests. This gets me very excited about what I am going to learn in the future and the career path I choose to follow. There is still so much for me to experience at Gannon, and I am more then excited to spend my next four years
