First Days at Gannon
Change can be a nerve-wracking experience for many people. I find this especially true with myself. Ever since I was young, I was not very fond of change. I like finding a routine or pattern and sticking to it. I went through a big change when I young, that I believe greatly influenced me to be this way. At the age of nine, my parents divorced, and I was suddenly moving from Florida to Erie, PA. I had to leave a school where I had many friends and I was not happy about that. The first day at my new school was very scary, however once I got through the first day I loved it! After only three years I switched schools again. Once again I was very nervous about making the switch. Then after graduating elementary school it was

I realized after a short two days, that at least at
Gannon, this is definitely not the case. I definitely feel a stronger sense of freedom and responsibility, and that the professors will not baby the students. However, they still care and are there to help you through whatever you need.
After my first few days at Gannon, I have come to realize the differences between high school and college, but they definitely have their similarities. Such as the students, who still seem to fall into certain cliques and groups. Although, I feel that its easier to not be defined by these groups as in high school. One major difference is the sense of responsibility and the level of adulthood that I feel. I finally feel that I am completely in charge of my education and where I want to go in life. I love following my interests, career path, and taking classes that fit my specific interests. This gets me very excited about what I am going to learn in the future and the career path I choose to follow. There is still so much for me to experience at Gannon, and I am more then excited to spend my next four years

Necessary to understand society is the comprehensive understanding of social structure (macrosociology) and social interaction (microsociology) (Henslin, Gelnday, Duffy, & Pupo 2007, p. ). Central to this essay is the shaping of identity, and the influence that both social structure and social interaction retain throughout the formation of individual identity. This essay will highlight the complex, and often subtle combination of social structure and social interaction as shapers of individual identity in balanced environments as well as the potential for social structure to act as the sole influence in identity development in autocratic environments. Identity develops continuously throughout the lifetime and is sociologically explained as…

Idaho Governors Cup Scholarship Application I am a native Idahoan, straight and foremost which means that I have had the privilege of being raised in great place that has taught me much. From being able to kayak to knowing how to be a part of a community that is what I learned being an Idahoan is, However, what it should also mean to be an Idahoan is to be educated. An Idahoan should strive for more such as earning a degree or receiving an education beyond that of getting a high school diploma. I am applying for this scholarship because I feel that Idaho deserves better in the sense that as a part of this state, I personally should set forward to further myself by obtaining a degree that I can take with me into the future.…

Mallory Cattle catastrophes After a whole disastrous string of events containing many visits to the emergency room, an unrepaired broken tooth, life changing tragedy, and many legal issues that prevented me from staying at my own school, I journeyed to a new tiny school in the trash can of Los Angeles called Summit View West. Confused, overly optimistic, and determined to start a new, I did my best to start a new reputation; unlike my old one: “That Gay Awkward Weirdo”. Because I had Hung out with Jessica (The Nose Picker), Danni (The Sl**), Sarah (The Autistic Girl), and Bella (The Stalker), it didn’t help my situation.…

I remember the day before my first day at Pennoyer. I was sad and happy, scared, and mad all at the same time. I remember crying and yelling at my parents to not make me go to school that next day. The next day I showed up at school and remember walking into Mrs. Michael’s third grade class and seeing all of these new people that I would be friends with for years to come. At this school is where I made new friends, great memories, and where I grew up from a little kid into a young adult.…

It was 11:45 pm, we had the car packed, the moving truck loaded and on its way, and all of our goodbyes said to our family and friends, and set out to our new home in Georgia. It took us about 13-14 hours, but we finally arrived at 1:23 pm having driven the entire night, exhausted but still eager to see what is in Georgia. When we stepped out of the car for the first time, we were welcomed by a brisk December afternoon with a light breeze, something completely different from the sweltering heat of the south that we were told about. After adjusting ourselves from sitting for so long, we went and started trying to get everything settled. Once everything was settled, we started our first day of school.…
