So far, from this class. I’ve learned a lot. I know that’s a very broad statement but honestly, we talked a lot in this class. When I enter the door for my first day of school the first thing we talked about was Syria. I didn’t know what Syria was or that it was a country. I didn’t really pay attention to international things because I was thought, “the UN got this” The only country I paid attention to internationally was Ecuador really. But I really didn’t get an inserted into the international things until I came into the class. When I heard the things going on in Syria, I was shocked, shocked at the fact that so many people where dying because they wanted to get their voices out. It was hard to see the pictures and read the articles about what was going on. More classes passed and I started to learn about what was going on in the world, globally. I always knew the education was very poor in other countries, take it from me, my family is from Ecuador where the education system is quite poor because of their government. But heading that girls can’t attend primary school, I was mad, enraged, at the …show more content…

Of course age but at times traffickers have different agendas for age groups. I could list so many reasons why this is a human right issues but I want to ask the reader. How is this not a human rights issue? In all honestly, I looked and roam around the websites provided, but the websites didn’t help me pick my topic. I knew what my topic was since October when I was leaving a art class from downtown and enter a building that was called Love146, an international human rights organization working to end child trafficking and exploitation through survivor care and prevention. Ever since that day, I wanted to do more research on this

This semester in history, we talked about many things that I would not think about on a daily basis outside of school. Our lessons made me think in new ways about different concepts. The two things that made me most interested were learning about the Dakota Access Pipeline involving the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and the requirements for voting for the President of the United States. DAPL made me more aware of our environment and realize how one thing could drastically affect so many areas of our world. It also made me see that there are many cons but there are also many pros.…

Sex trafficking awareness has increased over the past few years in the United States. Many believed that trafficking only occurred outside of the United States, however, with the increase in awareness and education many myths surrounding this awful crime are beginning to be crushed. The United States is the number one destination for victims trafficked from Latin America and the Caribbean and one of the top three destinations for the victims trafficked from Asia (Hepburn & Simon, 2010). Approximately 800,000 individuals are trafficked across international borders annually and 80% are women and 50% of the women are children. In fact, there are 50,000 victims trafficked into the United States yearly and about 400,000 United States children who…

I choose Human Trafficking because it is something that I do not know to much about personally. I have seen some of it in different forms of media, such as television and in the news, but other than that it is talked about very much. It was very interesting actually seeing facts about it. I did second guess myself when doing both Major Assignment one and Major Assignment two. It was due to the fact that it is very hard to find specific numbers on the number of people involved in it because it is an underground crime.…

The foods that we eat are intimately connected to human trafficking and slavery mainly because the people who harvest the fruits and vegetables we eat are often people who have been kidnapped to work as slaves. This practice is tolerated mainly because labor laws are outdated and go all the way back to the time of the Great Depression (Source 1). These labor laws are rarely ever enforced harshly. The tomato growing industries in South Florida is one of the largest benefactors that use enslaved workers to harvest their crop. Benefactors that use house slaves have them in deplorable conditions and beat them if they are too sick or weak to work.…

Lately, it seems that the media has been solely focused on politics and celebrities. There are many problems that are going on in the world that many of these news outlets are failing to report on like the war in Syria, the opioid problem plaguing the United States, the immigration crisis in Europe, and many more. One problem in particular that really resonates with me is the sex trafficking and slavery that is going on in Thailand. People question what it really is. It is necessary that people must be informed on the history of how it came about and how it has become something of a normalcy, so that when they visit they are not oblivious to how prevalent it is in that area.…
