WOW what can I say. At six years old. I was still in foster care. I was mad at the world and I wanted to go home to my mom and dad. I wanted to live a normal life like every other kid I knew. I don 't remember the first day of school. I do remember that I went to an elementary school called Biddle in Detroit Michigan. I didn 't have a problem finding friends at all. I was a go-getter. I remember having a friend name Gordon. My early childhood life I was living with Mrs. Rodgers then I got moved to another family by the name of the Cross. I am not sure the reason for the move but I believe it was because Mrs. Rodgers was getting to old to watch children. No I am sorry after Mrs. Rodgers I went to a boys home called St Francis. I stayed with Lillian and David Sutton .I stayed with them for three years from the third to six grade .The Sutton family was another older family. I believe Mrs. Sutton was retired and I remember her husband at that time was working at general motors. I enjoyed the Sutton family. When I moved to the Sutton family I began to learn who I was and what I liked. I remember going to church every Sunday 2 times a day. Mrs. Sutton was in the church choir so I got introduce to gospel music. I remember coming home on Sunday listening to gospel music on the radio as she cooked dinner in the kitchen. I feel in love with Gospel Music not know God was molding me in the man he wanted me to be. I began to start playing basketball and a collect basketball cards that I still have today. When I moved first into the home I was the only foster kid in the home at that time. My peers became her grandkids that were Shauna and Laroi. Lario was a drummer at the church we went to which was Springhill Missionary Baptist Church. It is amazing how life works because Laroi and me are now living in Los Angeles. One of biggest memories I have around the time was my schoolteacher. I remember my fourth grade teacher Mrs. Moore and My Fifth grade teacher Mrs. McCullough. One of the things Mrs. McCullough gave me was a book called "Gifted Hands " that I did not read it at that time but I held …show more content…
Cross got to old for me and they moved me to another family. The next family was Mrs. Hollingsworth who was a single mom she had me and another foster kid by the name of Albert. By this time I was in middle school and I remember getting kick out of every school in the district and being taken and put into a special school called Aurora which was a day treatment for kids that could not go to regular school because they were a slow learner or because they had behavior problems. I was there because of my behavior. Problems. Once again I don 't think I was bad I just feel like I had a lot of energy that no one knew how to channel. They actually put me on Ritalin for a while to calm me down. They even gave me mental doctor to provide me with therapy. Even though I was bad I was very smart once I focused. Aurora could not keep me because I was to smart so they let me go back to regular school. I remember my therapist Mr. Mc Cabe telling me that they would let me go because I was too smart but he said I would be back. So I decided to make Mr. McCabe a lie and I never returned and I changed my life.
Next stop was the Pye family, which was my last foster home. I got there going into the eight grade to Cadillac Middle School. By this time I decided to stay out of trouble and do the right thing. I final settle down and read Gifted Hands, which was the book that my fifth grade teacher gave me. The book was about Dr. Ben Carson who had rough childhood like me growing up in Detroit

My life was turned upside down at the age of four. Child Protective Services (CPS) took me, my older brother, Kyle who was 6, and my younger sister, Sasha who was 6 months old, from my mother and placed us into foster care. They took us because neither my mother, nor my father was “fit” to care for us. CPS decided our parents were not “fit” because they were called out to investigate our living situation 3 times. Luckily we all had a family that loved us, and none of us were adopted by strangers.…
