I Was The First Day Of College

It was the first day of college and I just finished my first class in Violet Hall. I was feeling pretty confident and excited for the semester. After my computer science class let out, I turned left after exiting the thirteen hundreds quarter of the first floor and took the first exit I saw, thinking about my next class which was in Barnett Hall. The day before I walked to all of my classes, especially to my psychology class in Barnett, to make sure I knew my way so I would not get lost or be late. Thinking of the pre memorized route that started from the Violet Hall entrance facing Dobson Hall, I am completely baffled when I see the exact opposite. The sheer panic of being that confused freshman scared me out of doing what I should of done and ended up hurting me in the end. I was facing a building I didn 't know the name of, I started to panic, so I started walking. I wasn’t going to turn around and go back into the building to look like the confused freshman I was to get my mind in order. Therefore, I turned right at what I now know is Magruder and headed towards the library.
Once there, I still had no idea where to go to get to

What will happen when I walk into that room? What am I going to say? Finally, I am there and I headed to the classroom.. As I walked head down towards the last row of a crowded, computer lab type, classroom to find a seat, everyone was participating in some form of introduction game while I was nearly thirty minutes late to class. I was not acknowledged by the professor for she is paying attention to the students that were there on time and on task. I sat down confused, unaware of the type of type of introduction game that was being played, because it surprisingly wasn’t one I have done before. I got the nerve to ask someone that was sitting next to me what was going on and after that I just blended in like nothing

The campus seemed very big to me at that time. Another thing that was new to me that day while I was waiting to take my test, was the fact that there were students of all ages. After all that experience I had that day just made me have a bad view of college before even attending any classes since I was not used to that environment. By reading the article "I Am Not a Writer, I Am a Good Writer" by Joe Quartone, I learned that he also had similar feelings when going to collegein his writing class. He states that," I always had this kind of defensive attitude about college writing"(Quartone 237).…

The George Leland Elementary School was in an area that I thought it would be in. The building around it were run down and plain. The community was very low income and there was trash on the streets. The community did not have a lot of color and had very minimal stores. Nothing in the community looked like it was brand new, therefore I figured the school would look the same way.…

Reluctantly stumbling through a sea of all different walks of life, I tightly held on to my clunky lunch box as it bumped into every new face I passed. I scrambled around the intimidatingly large campus of Cypress Bay High School searching for my classroom. “Excuse me, do you happen to know where the 300’s building is?” I asked in a shaken voice, but no one seemed to hear me. It was as if everyone spoke a different language that I did not understand.…

I found the nearest parking spot, ran into the building, managing to pull out my books for chemistry, and ran up to the 5th floor all before the instructor, Professor Jason, started his next lesson on the structure of proteins-- oh great, something that was sure to put me back to sleep. Instead of falling asleep I started to daydream about what I was going to do when I go back to Maine to see my family and friends. Professor Jason never seemed to notice that I wasn’t paying attention, then again, there is over 60 adults in my class all trying to get by to make a living in this big city. It’s only a quarter after seven when the professor decides to dismiss the class to move on to our next block, I had the next hour off before I had to attend…

College is the beginning of a young adult’s life. It is the first time most adolescents are away from home and are learning to be independent from their parents. Selecting a college is a very important decision, often based on academic programs, athletic programs, or location. What most of the students applying to the University of Tennessee do not realize is that the school has a very rich history in paranormal activity. A myriad of ghosts reportedly haunt various buildings across the University of Tennessee campus.…

But I ignore this feeling and keep on moving forward because I was going to have to adapt living in the United States instead of Nepal. While I was busy thinking, I didn’t noticed I have already reached the homeroom. I was given the direction of class by caseworker before she left.…

It had been a few weeks since your parents died in a tragic plane crash, though you didn’t feel all that sad. Of course, you were slightly upset, but it wasn’t that bad. Your parents had never really built an emotional bond with you. They were more like dictators, they forced you to be the three P’s: posh, proper, and polite. When you wanted to play outside with the other kids, they shook their head in distaste, your mother telling you that’s not what ladies do.…

Tutoring Tips Application Plan At my next shift, I intend to implement the following plan for a successful session: I am going to introduce myself to the students because this moment can break the iceberg and makes the students feel welcome and more comfortable with me. Also, I am going to spend one more minute to get to know the student a bit (his/ her classes, native language, and so on). I am going to ask the student how I can help him/ her, and then we read together the assignment sheet to understand the teacher's instructions.…

Having an untied shoelace during the pacer test is every kid’s worst nightmare. My shoe was very loose and felt like it was about to fly right off my foot. I woke up at 6:15; i showered, ate breakfast, brushed my teeth and every morning I always hear my mom say “Alex you need to put your dirty clothes in the hamper.”…

We walked into the air conditioned building from the smoldering heat. This was the hard part; Jordy and I had to part ways and go to different classes. As we left each other the nerves grew inside me like a shaken up soda waiting for a fool to open it and explode. Praying that I had friends in my class, I walked in unsure if my legs were weak because of the anxiety I was feeling about who I was going to eat lunch with or the long hike I was going to have to take daily to Mrs.…

At the end of every high school year there is always an evil, beastly force standing between the students and glorious summer break; the final exam. A final exam is supposed to test one’s knowledge of the information taught throughout the year. Having these two hour test stacked back to back can only lead to high levels of stress. Without going into details, I am not the most proactive student. I am basically the person who won’t start a project until the day before it’s due or will be up late at night doing homework because I decided that three hours of Netflix was what I needed after school.…

From a young age, I was introverted, shy and reserved. This may have stemmed from my close relationship to my older brother, who is quite outgoing. For the first time, I was on my own and at a new school in a new city and state.…

Sprinting is not that easy when you don’t know where you are going, but I was doing it nonetheless. Without a destination, I keep my eyes pealed for a safe place to stop, but this sad excuse of a town doesn’t have much to offer. Mostly cornfields and barns, both of which give me bad vibes. I slow my sprinting down to a steady jog, just to be sure I’m not missing any opportunities. In the distance, I see a building; I decide if there are no cars, then I will see what it has to offer.…
