My First Day Of School-Personal Narrative

Improved Essays
It was the end of summer and the beginning of fall. Mornings were chilly not too cold just enough to wear a light sweater; you could feel the cool breeze coming in waiting to settle in for the season. When the afternoon came you could feel the warmth of summer still lingering in the air. With the beginning of fall coming in it also meant that there was another new school year that would start. This new school year was even more special than the other school years because this was the year an old school that’s been there for 106 years was going to be re-modeled, and it was also my senior year. I was half way through my first day of school as a senior; so far I felt good about my classes but yet there was one class I still needed to attend after …show more content…
Some of the seniors were enjoying the last few weeks of school. I was in the library doing any work that needed to be turned in and studying for the test. I would get distracted from the noise of the construction and mostly from the laughter and chatter coming from the courtyard. I had to ignore it and get focused. I would go the library for at least two hours after school. The noise of the construction and the care free seniors where fading away, as I was sinking in to my work. A couple weeks later, when the seniors had a week left of school, I walked in to class. I saw Ismael sitting in the same spot he sat in the first day of class and with the same yellow shirt. He asked “Are you going to retake the test?” I responded, “Yeah I have to, I haven’t been studying for nothing.” I walked towards Mrs. Longoria and told her, “I’m ready to retake the test.” she just told me, “Ok, here you go. Good luck.” Walking back to my seat I flipped through the two pages filled with 20 questions and thought I need to pass this. Getting ready to take the test Ismael said, “Don’t think about it too hard, you’ll do good.” I said, “Thanks.” I got right into the test, focused and determined to get a better grade than the last time. Once I completed the test I looked over it a couple times making sure I answered and completed all the questions. There were a few questions I was unsure of but I felt I did better this time. I got up from my seat nervously and handed to Mrs. Longoria. She looked at me and said “I’m going to grade it right now.” I just watch as she went over my test with a red pen marking the answers that were wrong, seeing some red marks on the test made me thinking I didn’t do well. Mrs. Longoria finished grading it and handed it to me with a smile. I was confused why she was smiling and I took the test and saw the grade I got. I was surprise and proud that the work I put in paid off. I received a B. I walked back to my seat smiling

I showed up anxious, the palms of my hands became sweaty and tacky. I took a seat with my classmates a couple feet away and began to take the test. It took at least three months until I was given my final grade.…

I still remember how the seat belt felt tightening across my chest as the car got closer to the Middle School. During that time I knew nothing about being in a big school because the biggest school i've been in was yankee ridge. (Which is really small).…

His eyes brushed down a list of names quickly and came to a sudden halt. With a glance toward me, he called me to the front of the room to present my work from the day before. And then it wasn't just him and me, it was him and me and every other sharp-faced person in the room. They were experienced "AP students," the best of the best, I was a mere peasant in their presence. Reluctantly, I made my way to the front of the room and with an unsure hand slid my work under the projector screen.…

The proctor did walk over to our desks, and he did see the paper, but when I looked down to confirm the papers location, it wasn’t there. It was hiding in between the pages of Dan’s test booklet, as if he had seen my integrity and my ambitions collide, and realised that my integrity mattered more to me than any score ever could. He looked at me and smiled. I smiled back, confident that I had made the right choice. I chose not to cheat, even when the tool to do it was right there in front of me, even when I had so much to lose.…

In the Spring of last year, it was my Junior year, one of the most critical years in high school. It’s the year that colleges look at the most, also it was the year that I was in some of the most challenging classes. Mostly honors, a lot of homework, and tests to go along with it. Studying would take me until late at night, and even on weekends, all day long. When it’s the end of the term everyone checks their grades for their report cards, and progress reports.…
