On her first day to work, the falling snow was thick and heavy, blocking out the scare light of the sun. Sandra tugged her coat a little tighter and turned her wipers on a little higher. She had been staying in a cheap, dingy hotel near her work, New England General Hospital until her first pay went though and she could afford a small flat meaning her drive was not long. She pulled up to the hospital, parked and locked her car and walked through the doors to her new career. Anticipating she would be kept away from the day’s action, she slowly got changed and scrubbed.
At about 3p.m the atmosphere in the hospital changed. The air changed from being sterile and thin to dense and metallic, people started bustling around, yelling at each other.

Joshua just laughed as Ryan shook his head vigorously. “That’s easy for you to say, you aced it”. “Ry, it wasn’t as bad as you think!” Joshua exclaimed, annoyed his friend was over dramatizing the event. The teens had just left their trial for the school track team, despite the months of hard work and training Ryan believed he had just ruined his chances by not winning his competition. “They only look at the best. I wasn’t the best.” His friends had done fine, smashing their competition out of the park. “It’s called a team isn’t it?” Katheryn tried to lighten the mood. “They need more than one person to compete. Anyways, let’s hurry up and get to the car, snow’s starting to set …show more content…
Joshua was stilling stuffing his face so Ryan drove. Katheryn got in the back. “Can you please turn the radio up?” Katheryn inquired, the silence between them becoming deafening. Ryan turned the radio up as they stopped at a set of traffic lights. As they waited Joshua brought up Ryan’s race again. “Ry, you know if you went out a lil’ harder around the last bend you might have had them.” ”I don’t want to talk about it” Ryan said as his hands clenched. Josh’s temper flared up. “God Ryan, I’m just trying to give you a tip for your next race” Ryan started to speed a little bit as he flicked on the wipers. Katheryn looked up from her phone as the tension in car overwhelmed the radio. If there even is another game” Ryan retorted. He took a corner a little too tight. “Please be careful Ryan.” Katheryn exclaimed, looking out the window at the snow. “Why? You don’t think I can handle the car?” “Ryan that’s not what I said” “Ryan! What is with you man!” Joshua had snapped. Ryan was now speeding through the streets. “Ryan, please, calm down and let me out” the turns were losing control, the snow was being flung in all directions, and Katheryn was scared. “You don’t deserve it!” Ryan shouted. “Why should you two do well and not me huh? This is all I have going for me, and no, of course I don’t get it.” Katheryn was holding onto the seat in front of her clutching it while Joshua had one arm on the door handle, one

Clarence, I agree with you completely that older generations follow the motto “a hard day’s work for an honest day’s pay”. I work with a few older employees and they work 5x harder than some of the younger employees I work with. I also received a 35 on my EI test which I was not surprised of either. I have a very high work ethic and have very little time for play in my job. I do need to learn to put myself in others shoes; sometimes this is very hard for me to do.…

Even though they were sad, at the same time they were happy because I was moving on with my life to better myself. It was hard for my dad to let me go because I am the oldest daughter and I have never separated from my dad. My little sister and my brother were crying too.…

I have always been interested in learning and using new ideas. Throughout my life, I have invariably drawn from my life experiences, newly learned ideas and my continuing education to help problem-solve sensibly and realistically allowing me to move forward or help others reach their goals. Although I have no formal teaching experience, in my past work and involvement in organized sports, I have repeatedly used the Progressive philosophy. When dealing with 13 & 14 year olds many situations arise such as bullying, personality clashes or simply not understanding a drill or play. I deal with these situations by asking questions to stimulate a discussion, allowing them to draw on past experiences; positive or negative, consequently allowing them to come up with a solution or grasp the knowledge they are seeking.…

I remember the day before my first day at Pennoyer. I was sad and happy, scared, and mad all at the same time. I remember crying and yelling at my parents to not make me go to school that next day. The next day I showed up at school and remember walking into Mrs. Michael’s third grade class and seeing all of these new people that I would be friends with for years to come. At this school is where I made new friends, great memories, and where I grew up from a little kid into a young adult.…

The idea of being told that I had to work for the first time made me want to eat glass; but could it possibly have turned out for the better? In England, when you reach 10th grade you participate in a nationally accepted program called 'Work Experience'. ' Work Experience' is when you work just like you would if you were legally an adult except with this program it only lasts a week. After 2 weeks of tireless searching I landed a job at Ariya Capital; an experienced developer and investor in clean energy and infrastructure projects throughout sub-Saharan Africa. It was actually much more advanced than any job I ever thought of getting.…

My first leadership experience came from being a voluntary work as a life- and management skills trainer, where I had to deal with different background, minds and studies trainees, to be the leader of my own session, the thing that let me build my communication, discussion and presentation skills. After that I started working as assistant supervisor in a psychological support centre for the international medical corps, where I had the chance to deal with very professional and creative people, the hardest thing was being accepted as the youngest member of the team and to be known as a leader , but being in this atmosphere…

A few weeks ago, I found myself on the second floor of the North end of the Unity Health Hospital, dressed in the nicest button-up shirt and dress pants I own, shaking so hard that my folder, which held my resume, cover letter, two pens, notebook paper and a cheesy motivational quote stuck to the inside cover, nearly fell out of my hands. My first job interview was an experience that I will never forget. My anxiety reached the point of exacerbation during the fifteen minutes that I spent in the empty lobby. I had intentionally arrived fifteen minutes earlier than my appointed time and was only accompanied by my own thoughts, which were fraught with worry. Had I arrived too early?…
