Personal Narrative: My First Day At Penn Machine

My first day at Penn Machine, I learned quite a lot. I had learned that I will be going to the Johnstown location as well as the Blairsville location. My first day I went to the Johnstown location. I went around all the offices and down around the factory and met all the employees. After that my supervisor showed me how all the IP addresses work with all the devices in the company, then he showed me logon scripts. This was really all new to me. I am more of a visual person, so in school we really do not get a lot of hands on, so working with IP addresses and with the server itself its really my weakness. We had to go around and see what we could use there (kiosks, handhelds, tablets, etc.) after we did that we then sat in a meeting with him going over what he thinks would be a good idea, he also asks the accounting and that what they would like to see change or make their life easier. With that information he could suggest certain modules and how they would work. After that was all sorting out the management could take the information they had and put it together, which now including me to go around each building and look exactly where things should be and what would be the best thing to do. After doing this, I got tons of papers on devices and their prices and had to go through them to see what the best selection and what’s the cheapest. Throughout my experience thus far, I have learned a lot about the IT management and IT accounting side of things. I have learned that you need to dumb things down to a CEO and that so they have better understanding exactly what it is you’re doing and is it beneficial and how much does it cost, and is there a difference between the cheaper route and the more expensive route. I really have not had a day that I really hated. I like the experience I am
