Grandeur Andersen Character Analysis

My first character is Rupert Andersen played by Gene Hackman. He is the lead inspector in a missing persons turned murder investigation in the deep south of Mississippi. He plays a very powerful and passionate character and is seen as somewhat of an outsider even though he is very familiar with the area and the people. In his ways he is the one man that you want on a case such as this, the kind of agent that would walk the fine line of the law and lawless to be able to solve the case. He was an amazing character in the film and could not have been played by a better actor. Character #2 My second character is the co FBI investigator in the story played by Wilam Defo, Agent Alan Ward. The younger and obviously foreign to the area …show more content…
The poverty stricken areas where the colored people lived compared to the where the whites lived was meager and considered appropriate for them. White’s only signs along with the speech of the time depicted the hatred and malice felt for the African American Race which was as demeaning as could possibly be along with the sense of helplessness seen in the eyes of those victim to this. What purpose do you think it served in this film? Please elaborate. To be able to explain the way things had occurred during the period of this movie it was extremely important to show the level of racism that had been taking place. In these times you can talk about it or even read about it, but until you can actually see it with your own eyes whether in film or in person you will never truly know what it feels like to not be wanted or considered even human. The brutality and malice shown in the film was completely necessary to depict the time and area of the south with the hopes of not only entertaining but to also educate the audience. 3. Our belief in church and in Faith of religion was displayed in the film more so in a negative way when the KKK made it a point to burn down a church as a sign of showing that no place is safe for any colored. As far as being treated differently than Whites, I have not seen it as harshly as the characters have. I have been treated as a second class citizen or lessor as a child growing up in my small south west Texas town. I used to hear racial slurs and comments I knew where wrong and could basically do nothing about since I at times considered it

Chiwetel Ejiofor (Solomon Northup) this character is a real live person, it’s his story of what he saw and did. Steve McQueen needs to use this character because it was based off in Solomon’s plot and real live events he had been through and experienced. It’s like giving a voice to one’s story who was a survivor in slavery and his actions towards it. Solomon is very strong spirited, a believer, and a strong person to go through 12 years of slavery. McQueen used Chiwetel Ejiofor as Solomon because he knows that this actor would perform very well for this film.…

To live in a time and place where people are divided into two different groups and are not treated equal to one another, must have been a very difficult thing to process when your group isn’t the better half. When this time was a time when people truly believed that segregation was the best option to follow to the view that it was much safer for them and their loved ones must have been a very difficult time for the all the African Americans whose rights were denied to them and their loved ones for wanting a better education and a better life for themselves and others. When you live in a place like this, a place so poor of character it must cause you pain for not being allowed a life to live and prosper just as they do on a daily basis. Within…

The character I chose was Betty Davis character Margo Channing. Margo was a star and had always been a star. Channing was a Broadway star who caught the eye of a young inspiring actress Eve Harrington, played by Anne Baxter, who hopes on becoming just as big as Margo Channing. The positive force is that Margo takes Harrington in under her wing and allows her to work for her as an assistant. The negative force is that Eve has her own hidden agenda and while working for Margo she studies her all the while playing a coy, timid, overly helpful saint.…

The story I chose for the movie is “Cathedral” by Raymond Carver. It’s a very interesting and simple story that change the perspective of a narrator of how he can see beyond the surface, and the inner self. The writer uses a first-person narrator to emphasize the hidden aspects of the story that are beyond human experience which the narrator relates too. For the cast, the role of un-named narrator would play by my uncle. My aunt will play the role of un-named narrator’s wife.…

Susan Smith from the War That Saved My Life is my favorite literary protagonist because she worked hard to provide a good life for the children and she saved the kids from a life of danger, risked her own life for the kids, and wasn't the cookie cutter mold for an ideal person because her flaws were shown and how much she needed the kids just as much they needed her. Susan Smith is my favorite literary protagonist because she worked hard to provide a good life for the kids. Susan made a conscious effort to raise the children, even though she had no experience and had originally been forced into doing it. She used her money to buy the kids food and clothes and worked extremely hard to educate the kids, especially Ada because they refused to let her into school.…

And then I guess, Pilar Hernandez, a role I played for Dreamteam, a long running TV show in the UK on SKY1 and FOX. I was part of the regular cast for two seasons, and the challenge there was to keep--keep--keep exploring--to stay curious even when you’ve played the role for a long time. And because Pilar was such a ballbuster, I had to find the moments her vulnerability could shine through and give the role more depth. What would you say was your most challenging role and why?
