My First Car Accident Essay

My dad always told me when I was first learning how to drive, that I will get into an accident one day if it is my fault or not. I never believed him, I always thought, “ everyone gets into an accident, what’s the big deal.” I never thought my first car accident would be only two weeks after getting my new car.
I remember the day like it was yesterday. My mother called me and told me to pick my sister up from her job. I had it all panned out, I was going to pick my sister up, drop her off at her apartment, pick up a friend, and go to the football game. It was Friday, October 3rd, 2014 at 5:30pm, the game that I really wanted to watch it was Shoemaker vs Ellison. It was nice and sunny outside, the perfect day to watch football without a jacket. On the way to picking up my sister my plans for the day had changed. I was driving down Stanchuler Loop, and was approaching the intersection between Elms Rd and Stanchuler Loop, about to go through the intersection, I realized that there was a pickup truck about to turn left while I was going through the light at about 40 mph. It happened so fast I wasn’t able to press on my breaks , causing us to crash in the middle of the busy intersection.

I looked up to my left and saw a guard rail with a river behind it, the car was heading towards it. My sister took control of the wheel and steered us the best she could towards the ditch. It was all green everywhere as the rear of the car hit the ditch first and spun us around, sending the front hitting the ditch as well. We spun around one more time, completing two 360’s. It might have been the wrong thought, but I was thinking about the airbags deploying at top speed, knocking us in the face, and injuring…
