There is a saying “There is only one brilliant, beautiful/handsome , talented child in the whole wide world. That child is every parent’s first-born child “

As my first-born child, I do have a strong emotional attachment and bias about my daughter, Aditi’s abilities and skills. To help me take away my bias and my imaginary colored glasses of love and affection, I will use anecdotes to highlight Aditi’s qualities of character and mind that most delight me. This will help me be objective and to support with evidence my observations.

Enthusiastic, passionate, self motivated and hardworking are the words that come to my mind when I think about my daughter Aditi. I am very happy and proud about her

I’m a freshman, and I’m trying to get acclimated to my life in the high school and just like every high school freshman; I’m trying to show upperclassmen and teachers what I’m all about. The high school jazz band was the finest ensemble in the school for me to showcase my musical ability, specifically playing the saxophone. I’ve spent my life looking up to the jazz band at local performances. It was my dream to play in that prestigious group. I thought I did well during the audition.…

Also having lessons made it possible for me to find about summer camps and other orchestras. This year I played with the Mann Band after school twice a week and I enjoyed it because I could play with my close friends and march to create this beautiful show. The money made it possible for me to pay the dues for marching band and the cost for a pair of marching shoes.Mann Band is the high school band for JL Mann and while it’s mostly high schoolers there are some especially talented middle schoolers. We are expected to practice on our own time and have it ready for the weekly rehearsals. I played and marched in several shows throughout the fall marching season.…

Let’s Band Together Ever since I saw a high school band perform for us during an assembly, I’ve wanted to be a part of the band experience. I’ve been waiting for today all summer, today I get to pick which instrument I get to play. I’m not even the slightest bit mad that I have to go to my school a day before school even starts. As I walk into my elementary school, I proudly remember that I’ve gone to this school for years. It feels good knowing I get to finally be a fifth grader and rule the school.…

During my scavenger hunt, I was able to find that a mother of a pre-k 3 student had recently sent an email to the teacher and administrators thanking them for hosting such a wonderful “Around the World” day at the school. Moreover, the administrators and teachers listen to suggestions that the students’ families give. For example, one parent suggested a celebration to honor the volunteers at school and the following month the whole school was part of a “Celebrate our Volunteers” day. Last but not least, pre-k 3 classes contained several materials that promoted diversity, in general. The materials range from multicultural dolls to…

It was small volunteering roles back then such as score keeping after school every day. Then in grade 8 I was awarded the “Student Who Makes A Difference” award by the staff members at my middle school. I was awarded this because of my ongoing positive attitude and outgoing nature and was also an active participant who encouraged other learners to reach their full potential in both school and the community. I was also recognized for my active participation in the school and community by being the chosen female to go to a summer camp called OELC, which stands for “Ontario Educational Leadership Centre”. This was a camp where potential leaders were picked out of their high schools all across Ontario and were sent to OELC for a week.…

So during the summer, I went to Heifetz to spend time with other great string musicians and teachers, practice a lot of violin, and really understand what path I should take. When I arrived at Heifetz Summer Institute, I realized something: I'm going to be away from my family for six weeks! This realization made me feel unsettled, but I knew I needed to come and seek a glimpse of my promise as a violinist. I went to the rather bare-bone dorm, and met a handful of string musicians similar to me. They were all normal people from around the world, and we all shared a common thing: our love for music.…
