Descriptive Essay About Savasana

Savasana is known for the one of the final poses in yoga. It creates a deep restoration and relaxation for the individual to escape the “real world” and enter a familiar and or comfortable place where an individual can relax the body, mind and soul. My favorite place to visit in my mind during savasana is the beach. I first imagine my body lying on a beach chair. The chair has flimsy straps across each side that supports my body and towel. I can either prop the chair completely up, or lay it straight down, almost touching the sand. During this moment I decide to lay the chair down with my back against the straps. As I look up and open my eyes towards the sky, I see the sun glistening down on my body, giving me a sense of overwhelming warmth, which subconsciously represents my life in many stressful moments. However as I slowly start to overcome the heat I picture a huge palm tree shadowing over my body giving me a rush of cooling, comfort. I must remember in life that I need to balance each of my problems such as warmth and coldness. To, not get too overheated by a simple situation, and or problem, and learn to …show more content…
The water is sparkling in the sun with hints of different shades of blues. I can smell the salt in the air and feel the ocean breeze cross my neck. I slowly stand up and approach the ocean water. As I put one foot in I can feel the bitter warmness of the water soak my feet into the ocean. My body slowly starts to sink into the sand as each wave overcomes my legs, giving me a strong pose, and letting my body over stand each wave. As I stand strong while each wave crashes over my leg, I get a sense of confidence, which embarks me to think of the strong, independent woman that I am. Not even a crash of a wave can topple over me, which then symbolizes the significant of my attitude, stating that I can make it thought any trouble in life, as long as I stay confident and strong, such as me in the

During April of 2015, I stepped out of the car and onto the beach for the first time in Destin, Florida; the salty sea stung my nose as I breathed in a refreshing breath of briny air. The first step onto the sand was like a bed of blankets; soft and comfortable. The way the white sand glided onto my feet and squished between my toes felt like heaven. The waves were singing a delicate lullaby, pulling me closer to them. As I walk towards the ocean with the warm sand beneath my feet, the cold waves lap at my ankles, as if they want to take me away.…

We can all admit that at some point in our crazy and busy life, we have taken the time to look back and ponder on our childhood, our childhood dreams, the endless things we could do and not get punished for it, and the constant need to seek for adventure. But as an adult looking back, we don’t stop here, we continue to ponder and think about the importance of this event, the safety, and the ability to be able to accomplish it at such a young age. This passage from Sarah Orne Jewett’s “A White Heron,” takes us back down to memory lane and uses Sylvia’s climb to the top of the monumental pine tree to see the ocean as a metaphorical image to us, as adults, being able to achieve our wildest dreams for the future. This passage perfectly displays the danger, excitement and the “I did it” feeling by using a distinct narrative pace, a third person omniscient point of view, denoting diction, and imagery.…

From Fitzgerald 's boats that beat on against the current to Maya Angelou who still rises with the certainty of tides, the ocean has long represented and radiated a sense of power. It can push against you, holding you under its clear blue weight; it can pull your body close in a suffocating embrace with each deep swell; it can reel back like a serpent, twisting around your toes and licking your heels. The Awakening by Kate Chopin ties the water’s wild and sensuous tendrils to the difficulties of women in the 19th century who attempted to attain the freedom of the ocean without drowning in its loneliness. Chopin depicts the struggle of women who rejected domesticity to retain their sexuality rather than living in solitude through three character’s…

We are all born on boats, coming from a source of which we know naught, and heading into an oblivion of which we can only imagine. Most of us are delivered onto vessels to live with our families, only leaving once adolescence entreats an independence that necessitates our sailing solo. Others live forever on the same craft, never venturing past that which man has made to separate us from the swirling, unknown waters below. Still others must learn to be autonomous almost at once, for they are set free on the sea only as babes, forced out of circumstance to ride the waves in nothing like a basket like the infant Moses. My juvenescence fell somewhere in the middle of that gamut; I lived on the ship of my family for the first several years…

But once I got out there in the water I would gradually start to love the ocean. Each time I would get braver and go out further, as my mom sat on the beach and watch my brother and I closely. The farther out I would go the water would get this magnificent blue; for allowing you to see all types of beautiful sea shell with all sorts of colors in them, the tropical fish reminded me of the movie Finding Nemo, little pale pieces of sand dollars washed up in the waves on the banks.
