My Father's Migration To America

Imagine living in a slum where food and resources are scarce, and living is a dread, this is basically the lives of the majority of people in Pakistan. I took this picture when I went to Pakistan and was on my way to my Aunts house. My family, miles away, live in a very large sub-urban home and when viewing these people I felt melancholy due to the struggles they face. Before my parents immigrated to America they also lived difficult lives, especially my father, who was fatherless at a very young age, had to support his family on his own and struggled to continue his education. The reason he came to America was because he was able to live where necessities in life were not as difficult to obtain, whereas in a third world country luxuries such as food and shelter are hardly open to the public. My father’s journey has a back story and a struggle and this is what I get from this photograph, seeing humans struggle daily and this is not limited to Pakistan, but effects many people globally. …show more content…
This place is significant to me because when viewing it I began to think how my life was compared to theirs, such as I do not need to ravage through trash to find food daily, for me it is set on the table. I do not need to worry if a storm would make my house topple over, it was built by professional. The problems that affect these people daily have no meaning to me, until I could make something out of it. One day I want to be able to help those people build a roof over their heads and let them be able to have the luxury of having food placed at their tables. I want to be able to support those who cannot support themselves and save them from the difficulties that my own father faced as a young
