A big issue for me was the fact that, even though Julie was abused by her father, there had to be a way to play the side of Julie that it’s hurt and not angry. My first instinct was to play fear. I thought that Julie kept this fear for her father over the years. When I found out that Julie more than scare was hurt finally could have an overall vision of what my main purpose was. She is there at the hospital because she needs to face her father before he passes away, she knows that this is her last chance to close that door and start a new page, even though she will not admit it Child abuse is a big deal no matter what it is wrong and there are no excuses for this, nevertheless a big deal for me was to find the way of showing that hurt adult that Julie is.…

There is something inside every human being that pushes us to empathize. Whether to use it to our own advantage or to just lend a helping hand, human will always need other humans. When it comes to victims of sexual assault, I realized my response time was faster when coming to their aid or defense. Crimes of absolute injustice where the sentencing rates are zero to none because victim shaming was easier than the paperwork and investigation that went into convicting the assailant. Some people have to suffer through abusive parents or drug addict family members, maybe deaths of people they love when they’re young or maybe they’re dirt poor. No matter the circumstance they’re people that have to deal with this, and then there’s those of us that get a “get out of jail free card” in life. My dad was not one of those people, he went through a lot to get to where he is now. The one thing I remember vividly from my childhood are the holes. During what was supposed to be a safe and restful naptime I dug into the wall with my tiny bare index finger. Over some unknown time period, those mysterious diggings developed into a fair likeness of the solar system. The trauma that any individual deals with, whether it is during childhood or adulthood, can turn out to be life-altering, specifically, when it hides far inside of the subconscious mind for many years. How does anyone climb out of that hole?…
