So I slowly grasped the sweaty handle bars of the zip line and the conductor tightly put the black belt on my waist. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I took one deep breath and started thinking about how much I had to do in life and if I should go on this risk taking ride. Though, my fear was there, I thought about how this zip line wasn’t that long and could probably come back in 2 minutes, and I could always close my eyes which sort of helped to relieve my fears..…

I am applying for The Eunice Riggins Memorial Scholarship, because I believe that it will provide me the funds I need to attend college. This scholarship is exactly what I need to help push me towards my next goal; becoming a college graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience and Sleep Studies. My largest passion is the human brain because it controls the entire body and our world. Without the brain our world would be dull and simplistic because no one would have the ability to make their own decisions. I believe that something that should be admired and further explored.…

“How much longer?” I groaned out to my dad while wiping the sweat off my brow caused by the blistering heat of the mid-day sun. We were hiking up the Arizona Trail in the Grand Canyon for almost two hours. My brother and cousin were running up ahead, trying to race each other to the top of the 13-mile trail. My dad kept yelling at the two of them to slow down and wait for us. I knew the three of them wanted to go faster but kept having to wait for me.…

Soft whooshing sounds rose up from beneath my skis as they slid across the soft crystal like snow glistening in the bright winter sun. The cool and crisp air was the ideal temperature for a day of skiing, not too cold to make it uncomfortable, but still cold enough to keep the snow from melting and turning slushy. With these snow conditions and bright blue skies above, all in all, it looked to be a perfect day for skiing with my family. Accompanied by my Mom, Uncle, and 4 cousins, we woke at the crack of dawn, packed the car with equipment and snacks, and began the hour and a half trek to Mount Sunapee in New Hampshire. At best, my level of skiing competence could be described as advanced-beginner.…
