My Family Traditions

Decent Essays
I wouldn't say that my family has traditions when it comes to holidays because its nothing special. For example for Thanksgiving, every year, most of my family agree's to go to one house. From there, we usually just hang out and wait to eat. For dinner we usually have a turkey, tamales, mashed potatoes, ham, etc. Nothing really special happens on Thanksgiving because all we do is hang out with family and that is basically it. For Christmas, me, my brother, sister, mom and dad always do secret santa.I like keeping who we got a secret but my mom and dad always ending up telling eachother who they got and my brother and sister always tell eachother so it's not that much of a secret but we still like doing it. I guess that is basically our only tradition. Then on …show more content…
Then very late at night, everyone left and we woke up the next day. On Christmas day, my whole family came again but in their pijamas. My family were matching then when night reached, we played loteria and I ended up winning most of the games. Then came New Years' Eve. My whole family came over to my house and my sister cooked most of the food. It was so delicious. Like before, we hung out until 12:00 hit. I had bought for confetti cannons for my three cousins and me. At 11:00pm, I set my gopro up in a corner of the living room so I could get everything on video. New Years hit, we all went crazy and when I went to go look at the footage, I realized that it was on picture mode and not of video. Then everyone left my house really late and came back next morning On New Years day, me and my six cousins went to the mall in San Francisco. We got back not to late and played loteria again. That night i went to sleep around 2:00am and had to wake up at 5:30am to go fishing with my cousin and uncle. I got back around 1:00pm and went to sleep until 6:00pm. These holdiays went by awesome and wouldn't change anything. I can't wait until the holidays come around

I opened my presents like I do every year, and got excited about them like every year, and then thanked everyone for my presents like every year. Whenever my mom pulls out her phone, the family knows she’s about to record something or take pictures . So, my brothers and I cautiously looked at each other, deciding if we should get excited or not.…

Through My Eyes Throughout my life I cannot say I looked at my parents as immigrants or ever afraid of being deported to Mexico. I am also the youngest of four so I also was not able to see why parents when they were younger and just being in America. I personally did not see a difference in races being born and raised in Dallas Texas, in a little town called Farmers Branch we were mostly populated with Mexican American with a smaller population of Whites, Blacks, and Asian. Although I did get a little bit of racial backlash from my parents towards other races telling me not to talk to white people because they are crazy, but yet are closest neighbors where white and still to this some of nicest people I’ve ever met.…

My heritage is one of mixed roots as many American families now are. The family gene pool is pulled from a variety of different ethnicities including Choctaw Indian, Irish and German. When America was formed the Irish were viewed as lower class and poor and this limited the work they were permitted to perform. My great, great, grandfather, who was Irish and German, married a Choctaw Indian lady when he was only 22 years old and has been in the country for only a short amount of time. The marriage permitted him to build his home on the Indian reservation in Tulsa, Oklahoma.…
