I had no idea what to expect when this class started. What I have discovered is an extensive framework for viewing not only my family but others that I will come into contact with throughout my career. “Family systems theory is comprised of the following eight concepts: scale of differentiation, triangles, nuclear family emotional process, family projection, process, multigenerational transmission process, sibling position, emotional cutoff, and societal emotional process” (Kerr and Bowen, 1988, p.333). While I had some knowledge of many of these concepts prior to the class, I had no way to tie them all together.
