My Grandmother In My Family

The oldest living relative in my family is my Grandmother Lou on my mother’s side. All of my other grandparents on my mother and father’s side have passed on. I called my Grandma Lou and asked her about my ancestors. She proceeded to tell me about how we have a book that goes way back and traces our ancestors but, sometime admit the chaos of life, it has been misplaced. My Grandma Lou said she would tell me the most she can remember about my ancestors and hopefully that will do. He was french man who was on the Baker side of my family, which is my great-grandmothers side. He went to Russia with Napoleons army with his four brothers to fight. All of his brothers were killed except for him when he returned he decided to come to the United States. …show more content…
My great grandfather was in World War I and he got malaria and the flu and only by a miracle did he survive. She said that when he came back he started working in the agricultural department for meat inspection and was transferred to Chicago in 1923. That is where they raised their family and were my Grandma Lou grew up. My Grandpa Charlie was in the Navy and fought in World War II and the Korean War. My Grandma Lou meet my Grandpa Charlie after he got back from serving in the Korean War. They got married pretty fast and started having children and in 1956 my wonderful mother, Carol, was born. They moved their family out of Chicago and into a suburb of Illinois were they raised their six children. My mother went to Drake University were she majored in Actuarial Science and right after graduation got a job the Mutual of Omaha. She meet my father, Gus, at a Catholic Church event and they hit it off right away. They got married had five children and have lived in the same yellow house in Omaha for thirty-three …show more content…
Growing up with two hard working parents who have my best interest at heart, taught me to work for what I want to achieve and that the easiest way is not always the right way. Growing up with four other siblings has taught me how to share toys, food, and most importantly a room. When I came to college it was not a culture shock to have to share a room with someone else, it was something I was use to. Having a great-grandfather, grandfather, and brother, who have served for our country has taught me the value and importance of freedom. It has also taught me to cherish the country I live in and the countless members of the armed services who risk their lives daily. Most importantly every single family member I have encountered has taught my why I am Mary Dworak today, they have taught me to be myself and be my best
