My Family Is Deeply Rooted Essay

My family is deeply rooted in the Christian faith, we went to church on Sundays and Wednesdays. My father grew up in a family that only went to church on Easter and Christmas and were Christian only in name. When he was about five or six his mother became a Jehovah’s Witness while his father did not. Because of her religion, she was never involved in birthdays or holidays throughout his childhood and it turned him away from religion as a whole until his senior year of high school when he went to a Younglife camp and committed his life to Christ. My mother grew up in a very different household. Her family went to and evangelical church every Sunday and held bible studies at their house on Wednesday nights. My parents met each other after graduating from Arizona State and the family they created reflects that of my mothers more than my fathers. We are basically just the stereotypical white Christian family, born of European decent that is seen everywhere in America. From what they have told me, our family has been Christian nominally or practice for as long as anyone can remember.
My family’s core teaching is that Christianity is the one true religion and that the Bible is God’s written word. We believe that the only way to reach heaven is through the acceptance of Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. In practice I would say that my family is very observant of Christian doctrine. I wasn’t allowed to swear growing up but I remember one time when I accidently said “oh my God”…
