Asian Fest is an annual event held every Memorial Day weekend with more than 100,000 visitors. Their mission is to promote the importance of cultural diversity in building a vibrant, prosperous and healthy community. Now I must admit I was a bit skeptical about going. At that moment in time I have never been to an event as culturally diverse as this one. I have watched anime and been to Asian based restaurants but that was as far as I have interacted with the culture. My sister, however was thrilled to be going and was very eager to get there. There you could buy anything you seen at the cultural displays and booths: traditional clothing, toys, and any other type of accessories you could think of. The marketplace is where the majority of the people were. This is where you could really see the diversity and the different types of people that were there. We sight-seen for a bit, and my mother and sister tried to buy everything they could get their hands on but as you can probably guess my sister eventually bought a kimono and my mother bought one as well along with a purse. Although, I did not buy anything I was still shocked and intrigued by how much fascinating merchandise was there. Yet, after seeing all the different foods they had to offer in the cultural displays, I must admit was quite anxious and ready to eat. After my mother and sister finished their shopping sprees we made our way over to the food court. I am very enthusiastic when it comes to food. So my excitement as we approached the food court was immeasurable. The amount of mouth-watering deliciousness that was waiting just for me was so incredible I drew tears. Seeing what the food court had to offer earlier in our trip left me with high expectations, and they did not disappoint. The food tasted better than I could imagine.
