My Family Collaboration Project

My client’s name is Zach fields. He’s a sophomore in his high school. His parents have contact us about his issue that he seems very distracted all the time and doesn’t communicate with his parents much.
Assessment:
1. I’m a counselor at cooperative counseling services. I have been working here for almost 5 years, dealing with children and adolescents. I’ve been working with teenagers with anxiety and depression disorders that affects their studies and their relationship with their family. We treat children with behavioral, mental and emotional disorders.
2. My client is a 16 years old, Haitian American high school student. His family belong to the Roman Catholic religion and his mother practices the religion very spiritually. He belongs to a family of four with two younger sisters and her single

The main issue with my client’s current state is his cultural values and beliefs different from his other classmates and friends at school. He feel different and doesn’t feel blended at his school. The bullying at school is also because of this issue, other children make fun of him but this isn’t his mistake that he’s a Haitian American and is studying in an American school where there are zero to none Haitian children. The other problem is his mother being a Haitian mother and using physical punishments at home. This leaves him no choice but to not communicate with her about his problems or anything about school. His mother also told me that his father left them when he was 9 and never came back. He was sensible at that time and it affected him a lot mentally and he’s still suffering from that issue. I’ve done some psychological tests on him to see if his past events and his mother’s physical punishments has affected him mentally. Adolescents behavior test and adolescents anger test is very important for children like him because they usually outburst their anxiety and depression through anger or behavior.
