April 23, 2004 was the day my family departed to a foreign land, America. I can still remember my grandma’s tears trailing down her cheeks as she said goodbye to each one of us crying because she won’t be able to see any one of us anymore. My mom dragged us to the restroom so that we can get changed and look replenished. When I entered the restroom, I was amazed by how shiny and clean it looked and now when I look back at it, there’s no awe because it 's just a plain restroom. At that time we were in admiration with it because back home restrooms didn 't look like that. When I first set foot on American soil I looked up and breathed in the air it was different than Indian air very clean. Then I remembered this is the place I will call home now. My aunt and uncle were waiting for us at the terminal. I am usually a shy person when you meet me for the first time, so I hid behind my mom when we were walking towards them. Adjusting to a new atmosphere and meeting new people is hard to manage because back home we know everyone there.
Now here I am living the life that my parents have strived hard to build for. This place is what I call my home now and although my family is half way across the world they will always be in my memories plus even though we are miles apart we have the technology to keep in touch. America used to be a foreign land to me but now what I call home is here and not
