My Family And I Have Gone On A Camping Trip Essay

My family and I have gone on many a camping trip. We have all the gadgets and gizmos; the air mattress, the camping stove, you name it. And while I love camping there is one thing I do hate; waking up in the middle of the night and needing to find something or go to another camp site for some reason. It is pitch black outside and you often cannot see your hand in front of your face. If you try moving around without a flashlight you end up bumping into things. But if you take a flashlight, things are so much easier. The light, although it does not brighten up the whole sky, it still lets you see what is in front of you and helps you avoid any obstacle. Things like pits or rocks and it helps you safely get to your destination. Walking in the darkness is hazardous, dangerous, and can get you seriously injured. John the apostle uses this image of light and darkness to teach us some extremely important truths. John says that "God is light". The great thing about John 's writings is they tend to be simple. But with that simplicity there is also a depth. When you hear that phrase, "God is light", what comes to mind? Maybe think of a flashlight. Or maybe you think about the sun and how it lights up the whole sky. Light in the scriptures often stands for holiness, righteousness, wholeness, truth, or perfection. Think about these scriptures.
Psalm 27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation...
Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light…
