As I have loved you, so you must love one another. This biblical text reminds me of a saying in the movie Semi Pro during a fight between his basketball team Will Ferrell says “ELE everybody love everybody”. That part of the movie plays in well because the basketball team is pretty much a family. I am not sure that this text can be interpreted in many different ways. I see it just as it says, the Lord is telling you to love one another as he loved you so you should love others. Some of the constructive norms that I am able to identify in this biblical text is that in a family relationship no matter how mad you may get at a family member you always will love them. With me being Hispanic there is a lot of love that is expressed between family members, and it is not only with my immediate family. When we gather together for a holiday or whatever it maybe we are to go around the house and great everyone with a hug and a kiss on the cheek. In the Hispanic culture it is a way to show your love and respect for that person. To me this biblical text is a perfect example of how a family lifestyle should be. When I say my family I am not talking about just my immediate family. I am so close to all of my aunts, uncles, and my cousins that it feels like we are all just one big family, and boy do we fight like it sometimes. One example would be at a family Christmas we had two years ago. My cousins got into it with one of my aunts about some things that had happened in our family. It did not end well. Some of my family members left the Christmas crying and not happy what so ever. We all knew that is not how family should be treated in a family relationship, but guess what? With our family being so close we got over it and continue to love each other like the Lord wants us to love one another. This is honestly one of the places that you could say that this biblical text fell short in my family. There was so much hate
