One big difference in the parenting roles between my family and the Portokalos family is that I come from a divorced house hold which is very different from a normal house hold like the Portokalos family in the movie. Both my mother and my father are catholic. Although they are both catholic they have very different beliefs about the religion. My mother is a devoted catholic she practices the religion by the book. My mother attends mass every Sunday and Wednesday. She helps out in everything and anything she can help the church with. She is a very strong believer in the Catholic Church. My mother believes that we should be baptized, have our first communion and our confirmation but she would never judge us if we decided not to, she would stand by our decision. Although my father is Catholic he doesn’t believe in attending mass every Sunday. He also doesn’t believe that we should be baptized, have our first communion or our confirmation. In the movie “My Big Fat Greek Wedding “they were from the religion Orthodox. They pretty much followed the religion by the book. They believed that their daughter could not marry unless her fiancé changed his religion to Orthodox. My parents would never put me in that situation they would accept my future husband no matter what religion he was.
You can say there are some similarities between my family and the Portokalos family, but at the end of the day no family is the same. We all differ in every aspect of our lives. The one true common thing that we do share is the never ending love that my family has for one
