Gina Schmidt: A Family Tree

A family tree, like an actual tree, works and grows by all its linked branches, but what happens when a branch goes missing? My family is figuring out that answer. Gina Schmidt, also known as Mom, was reported missing February 15 3:33p.m. in Centralia, Washington 2014. Gina and my father divorced when I was very young, and I did not keep in touch with her much while growing up. It was difficult to get ahold of her because she was an alcoholic, her place of residence changed often, and she never owned a dependable phone. When she did have a phone available she would often speak with my Aunt Bobbie, one of her two sisters. My aunt is the one who would inform us on Mom’s location, health, and things like that. She is also the one who talked to Mom before and after her move to Washington, the one who is in charge of Mom’s case, and the one who has gave me all the information of my Mom’s story. She recalls it being October of 201, they were visiting one another in Nashville. My mom was in search of a place to stay and had asked to move in with my aunt. While he was in jail he began to confess things to his cellmate, that worried him. It was difficult for my aunt to tell me this and it is difficult to share, but Brain had said he murdered my mom and had buried her body in a park nearby her apartment. His cellmate told the jail workers and it got passed on to the people on the case including my aunt. A search party with dogs was sent out to the park but nothing was found. The park is very large and wooded and made the search very difficult. Although they did not get answers from that they are trying to find reasons to keep Brian in jail, to see if he will confess any more information. As you may assume, this did put a big dent in our hope for her return, but it did not kill
