I have attended SCPA for nine years now, and before I came to SCPA, I went to Schiel. At Schiel you had the luxury of participating in multiple arts. Along with academics, each day of the week would be focused on dance, art, vocal, or instrumental music. Dance was what I enjoyed the most, and I had also been dancing at Manyet dance studio for a couple years at the time.

I still got into vocal, instrumental music, and creative writing but I had no idea about what to make my majors. I finally decided to try all three. I enjoyed all of my majors but I yearned to be in dance, so I re-auditioned and still didn't make it in. I re-auditioned three times, and after multiple failed attempts I finally came to the realization that dance wasn't for me. My dreams were crushed but I couldn't let that stop me, I still had to decide what to do next.
At the time my majors were creative writing, vocal, and instrumental music. As a child, dance was not the only thing I had an interest in. I have always been interested in music, so I chose to quit creative writing and continue to sing and play the cello.
After being in a variety of different majors including 2 years of creative writing, 3 years of cello, 3 years of drama, and 8 years of vocal, I finally found what I truly love the most. As a twelfth grader, my major is vocal music and I couldn't be any happier with it. Music is my life now and it is such a wonderful thing.
Failure has taught me tons of great lessons. Yes, this is very cliche, but most importantly it has taught me to never give up. If it wasn't for my failures, I would not be where I am today. I love music, and because of it I have been given amazing opportunities. My success came from
