My FSU Experience

Other than sleeping, have you ever found yourself completely silent, both physically and verbally? Well, it happened to me on a summer day back in 2014, crammed into the backseat of a Fiat northeast of Prague. Since I couldn’t communicate with the passengers and had just left a life-changing 10-days in Tuscany, I allowed myself to reflect on my life in greater detail. During this ninety minute, fast-paced ride, I concluded my life is an ironic journey, shaped positively by polar opposites. It’s the characteristics I have gained from these two sides that will propel me to embrace the diverse FSU experience, and encourage me to share my talents with my environment. In almost every aspect of my life, I have come to appreciate how I have benefited from the “opposites.” Here’s a few examples. …show more content…
From viewing gorgeous windows to playing in the arches of the cellar, I learned that a foundational character would serve me well. So, I focused on learning from the more experienced: my parents, teachers and priests. Then, after moving to a modern home, I realized that some of the “newest” technologies (insulation, air-conditioning) related directly to my yearning to explore non-traditional theories…testing the present day, debating future possibilities and going beyond the knowledge of the past.

Music…old and new. My absolute love of classical music has helped me comprehend and translate the emotions of the composers into the intended sound on my French horn. Yet, I love the spirit, liveliness and randomness of pop music. You should see my playlists…Bach and Mozart shuffled with Michael Bublé and Bruno Mars. I love music so much, there’s so many reasons too; I guess I can try to explain them. It’s not just listening to music, but I love playing it too. The different sound coming from different instruments and when you’re playing and when you’re contributing to those sounds and it’s so melodic, especially when you play the flute. Putting emotions into the music makes it even more interesting. It’s like you understand what the songwriter, singer, or composer was feeling or thinking of when they made or sang it.…

You are undoubtedly one of the most distinguished composers of our time. One of your most applauded works Pirates of the Caribbean has amazed me and many others for years. You seem to effortlessly create superior character and style in all of your film scores specifically Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. In my opinion, Spirit is your most impassioned and moving composition. You developed a masterpiece that encompasses the determination for freedom and the grit of a champion that transcends all other works of art.…

There are many similarities and differences found when comparing Florida State University and University of Central Florida. Despite having these differences, FSU is an overall better college. There are countless subjects to choose when comparing these schools, but the main topics I chose to focus on were the schooling overall, the people, activities, and my career. Indifference, FSU overall is statistically better. FSU is a slightly larger school with 60,767 students vs 41,226 students, given it's a larger school it's acceptance rate is much higher than UCF with a 55.4% versus 49.6%.…

Music has played a gigantic role in defining who I am. When I was little I was always involved in music. Even if it was not me making the music, I was always bopping my head along or tapping my foot to the beat of the music. My parents were surprised to find out that I was the child that was fascinated by the marching band walking in the parade. I knew by a young age that I wanted to be in that band.…

In Aldous Huxley’s “Brave New World”, citizens live without individuality, intelligence, and emotions, all of which can be connected to the absence of playable music. In the real world, everyone is affected by music that they listen to or create themselves, but it is truly underestimated. People have the distinguished ability to express their individuality through the varying types of music in the world and how they react to it. Being a musician can challenge someone’s mental and physical abilities and, if they accept the challenge, can make them more intelligent and capable members of society. Music can also cater to one’s differing emotions and help them to understand their feelings and coping methods.…

Participating in orchestra has been a life changing journey. I had no idea that selecting to play a violin in orchestra at an early age could become so crucial in my life. I was a shy and quiet little girl growing up, and being in orchestra has pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me develop the social skills and self-confidence I needed to succeed in life. To this day, as a senior in high school, I am still greatly involved in orchestra. It has also taught me valuable life lessons such as teamwork, leadership, coping under pressure, discipline, time management, critical and cognitive thinking, friendship, and family.…
