Improved Essays
Imagine life on earth versus life in space. I can remember myself dreaming of the day that I would be in a space shuttle, awaiting take off hoping to leave all my worries behind. Just as Tom in the “Glass Menagerie” by Tennessee Williams, I too was looking for a way to escape my life. I have always been fascinated by space and the possibility of extraterrestrial life. The figurines were turned to for comfort during uncertainty or even times when I wanted to escape the reality of having to care for my grandmother. As a person, who has dealings with a vast majority of situations in life, I can relate to Tom Wingfield. Tom escapes his reality through the fire escape of his apartment, then off to the movies where he imagines his life somewhere …show more content…

“Things always have a way of figuring themselves out.” That’s what my dad always would tell me when I was younger which, in a way, relates my life to Jeannette Walls’ in The Glass Castle. He told me that whether or not things had problems over time or in a matter of seconds, they would always figure themselves out. I carry those words with me as a reminder that things for me were really hard at one point, but in the end they figured themselves out. My parents divorced when I was twelve years old, and just headed into 7th grade.…

“The Glass Menagerie”, “Death of a Salesman”, and “A Raisin in the Sun” all reflect the human experience. The human experience in this case involves American families during the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s that are co-dependent on each other throughout the economic and social struggles of their time. The families’ struggles transcend their time periods; people empathize with them now and will continue to do so long into the future. The stories depict experiences that feel very real and that people can relate to in their own lives. Economic hardship and dreams of a better future are common themes in these plays.…

As proved by history, the collapses of kingdoms were inevitably related to the revolts of their citizens due to exorbitant taxation and suppression. As explained by physics, a common automobile tire can easily burst under high pressure when it is overinflated. This idea is also presented in the literature. Particularly, three dramas--Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller, The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams and A Doll House by Henrik Ibsen--address the theme that excessive suppression of human nature will eventually lead to the extreme explosion, normally accomplished by a departure from a stifling environment to their dreams.…
