Narrative Essay On Acirema

Great Essays
When we land in Acirema, I am tired. I couldn 't sleep on the boat, something from the party didn 't add up. The guy who yelled "Is that the one they thought had both powers?" how had he known about that? I try to tell myself that the only reason he knew was because most people there were apart of the Acirema government, so maybe that 's how he knew. But another part of me feels like there 's a sign on my forehead saying "Hey look at me I 'm the freak with both gifts!" Even though I still don 't understand the importance of me having both powers, I trust Iris. No one can know about both my powers. Right now the five us accompanied by Iris and Michael are walking to our new house, where we are in Acirema looks exactly like a normal urban neighborhood in America. The …show more content…
"Give her some room.” Iris says. I sit up, and look around the room; I 'm sitting on a bed in the middle of a room I have never seen. A light blue and pale red quilt blanket on top of me. "What do you remember?" Iris asks.

"The portrait." I say.

"What do you mean?" Iris says looking confused.

"I started to feel dizzy after I seen the portrait when we walked in.”

"The one with the lady with the long black hair?" Fabian asks.

"Yeah, that 's the one." I say. I reach up to feel my head; it has been wrapped in a bandage.

"The portrait had nothing to do with it; you probably just had a dizzy spell. Fabian you should leave so she can get some rest." Iris says sharply.

"Wait why is there a bandage on my head?" I ask.

"When you fainted you hit your head on the ground." Iris says.
"Oh." I say.
"Now Fabian it 's time to leave Avalon alone."
"But...” Fabian says flashing his puppy dog eyes.
"No, buts.” Iris says ushering him out of the room.

"When I was passed out, I had a dream about the woman in the portrait.”

"She 's one of your ancestors. Killed because a mortal seen her use her power, telekinesis. Legend says she hid her daughter away with nymphs. “Iris

It was a torture to burn. A long time back, Montag had enjoyed the feel of a cold, heavy brass nozzle in his hands, spewing kerosene on the leather bound books, followed by a blazing fire that turned their yellowed pages into black smoke. Avery woke, pain no higher than normal, but was accompanied by the pressure of bandages, which was abnormal. In all of her accessible memories, she had yet to wake up without pain of some sort, despite medication dulling it when she was younger. She was distracted from her musings when a door opened across the cave like infirmary, admitting a cheerful man who could be heard humming to himself, before registering that he had an audience. He blinked, surprised, before asking, “Are you actually awake or is my sleep deprivation finally produced hallucinations?…

I address her small talk, but I am cautious for what I should say next. •Marlene changes the mood of the scene, she brings up past circumstances and focuses on what I could have done, not the reality of the situation. I imply that I could not have left because there was no way for me to leave.…
