My Experience With Walmart's Career Fair

Decent Essays
This year Career Fair was very good, more companies attended the event and there was a greater variety of tables. I was able to go through the different tables and talk with the recruiters. The ones that got my attention the most were Waffle House, Walmart, The Navy, First Security, Absolute Internship, Arvest, and The Marines. I could see most of the recruiters exicited to be here and talk with students, but there were others from which I did not sense that vibe. I would say that my experience with the Walmart was not the best one. I went up to her and showed interest in what she had to say, but I saw her distracted in whatever she was looking at behind me. This made me leave quickly from her booth and continue looking around. Next, the recruiter from Waffle House was …show more content…
I do not know if she pointed the figures to create more interest in me or to just inform me. When I visited the First Security booth the lady there was very nice as well and informative. She told me about the background of the bank and their philosophy. I was somehow disappointed that the bank did not have someone specifically for the recruiting job, she was also the Branch Manager of the bank. I imagine this is because it is a small bank, but still I think they should have someone set for that job only because it is really important. It made me think that they do not think it is that important to have some specifically for that area. While I was visiting each of the tables I would interview the recruiters and ask them about their job, what they liked and disliked. Most of the recruiters said that they enjoyed talking with different people and visiting different places. They saw the job as a learning experience as

This report requested by Michele Bartosek pertains to the Alpha Kappa Psi Career Fair, hosted at Central Michigan University (CMU). While attending my first CMU career fair, I was not actively seeking an internship, but rather gaining experience and building my network. When I walked into Finch Fieldhouse, I did not expect there to be 143 tables worth of future employers, all squeezed into one gym. Although the Alpha Kappa Psi career fair was extremely overwhelming and stressful, it was beneficial to go as a freshman to understand what I can improve on at the next career fair. I understand the importance of many potential employers attending this event at this venue to maximize the opportunity for the students, however having so many people…

An internship is normally a work task a student completes after a series of classes to gain a degree in a particular field they think they’ll love, whether they still love it after they’ve completed that journey is based upon a multitude of criteria. Luckily, I have found that I quite enjoy fashion and working in retail throughout this internship at Dress Barn. Occasionally students find that what they thought they were getting into, is actually completely different than what they expected. Especially when reading about a profession on paper versus seeing it up closer in real life. When I started college, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to study or achieve with my life.…

Walmart is not good for America because they don’t treat their workers well, they offshore secondary jobs to china, they destroy other retail businesses who can 't compete with them, and they cause suppliers to lose money and possibly declare bankruptcy because of Walmart 's demand for such low prices. Walmart’s employment practices are no secret. Part of the reason why they can sell goods at such low prices is because they don’t pay their average employee well. This is described in the article titled Walmart raising Wage to at least 9$ by Hiroko Tabuchi. ”The retail Giant……. said that all of its retail workers would earn at least 9$ an hour by April and 10$ an hour by next February.…
