Although some claim Uber takes away from other transportation systems; my experience with Uber was convenient, fast, safe, and comfortable. Uber is a mobile app allowing anyone with smartphone accessibility to submit a trip request that is sent to local Uber drivers who use their own cars to pick a person up and drive them to their desired destination. This convenient transportation system was founded in 2009 by Travis Kalanick and Garrett Camp and was accessible the following June. As of May 28, 2015 service by Uber is now available in fifty eight countries and three hundred cities worldwide. My first experience with Uber was on a rainy and dark night in New Orleans, Louisiana. Plus, you will always arrive in style. Uber cars are required to be 2005 or newer; therefore, when you arrive you will be sure to have a great appearance, which is also proven to boost self-confidence. For those concerned with the safety of Uber one must know that Uber drivers have to go through county, federal, and multi-state background checks before they are able to drive. Also, after every ride passengers will have to rate the driver and are asked to give anonymous feedback; therefore, the driver has full accountability. If a driver’s rating gets below an average of three stars or they have multiple complaints then they will not be allowed to drive with Uber any longer. Another safety advantage includes Uber showing you a photo of the driver, their rating, license plate number, and their car. After looking over this information one can choose whether or not they want this driver to pick them up and have the option to cancel their request with no charge if they are skeptical. This is important for future Uber rides a person takes. Depending on the rating Uber drivers have the choice if they want to pick up a certain person or not. If one is disrespectful to the driver such as not tipping, canceling last minute, playing with their gadgets, or spilling sloppy food/beverages in their car then chances are the rating will not be high. This could potentially affect a person by taking longer for a driver to accept your request, which could delay the time it takes for a driver to arrive. Another thing to be aware of when booking is where a person is going and what vehicle is needed. One should recognize whether they need a vehicle that can fit lots of luggage to take their family to the airport or just a vehicle that will take you to meet someone downtown. When booking the app will give a person many options of vehicles to choose from. The names that Uber gives to each vehicle may be confusing. UberX is the least expensive car that seats four people not including the driver. Uber XL is a slightly bigger vehicle seating at least six passengers; Uber XL is slightly more expensive than UberX and the vehicle arriving will be an SUV or Minivan. UberSelect, also known as UberPlus is some markets, seats four riders. If you choose UberSelect expect a BMW, Mercedes, Audi etc with leather interior. UberPOOL is made for those to carpool and split the cost. This is only available in Los
