Physical Health Reflection

This class was actually very interesting and really helped me to open my eyes to the ways in which I have been not focusing on my physical health. When it comes to my present activity level, a lot has changed from the beginning of this class. I have to say that before this class I never made physical activity a priority in my day. I counted walking to class as a form of physical activity, which it was, but not enough. I am a lazy person and would rather be laying around watching Netflix than going to the gym. I also was embarrassed as to how out of shape I have become from high school, I thought it was worse than it actually was. When it comes to my patterns of rest and relaxation, I am very good when it comes to this category. I have …show more content…
Therefore I make sure that no matter what I will get around my 8 hours every night. I will put sleep of homework which is not always a great idea, depending on who you take too. I always relax at the end of the day, before bed, I will either listen to relaxing music or read to calm my body and mind down from the day. I have found that working out actually helps with coping with stress a lot. I usually just spend time with family or work to get my mind off of my stress. However I have found that going to the gym for 45 minutes and just working out really helps with my stress levels. I have created a habit of going to the gym every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, I will do cardio for about 20 minutes and then do whatever I feel like, either weight training or use the machines. I also on Saturdays or Sundays will make sure to run at least a mile and do some type of muscle building exercises. Before I was very lazy when I am at school, I did not do any form of exercise except maybe squats and pushups when I felt super lazy. However when I am home, my family is very active, always outside biking or just playing sports with my little brother. When it is nice outside, I’m outside doing something to …show more content…
I love my junk food, always would rather eat chips than eat an apple. However I have started to change that from this class. I have not given up my junk food however now I pair it with something better. I will eat a salad for lunch and have a small bag of nuts and chocolate so I can get that sweet and salty kick I need. When it comes to my meals, I never have breakfast, if anything I grab a snack bar as I’m running to class and always have a coffee in the morning. I always make sure to have a decent lunch and dinner. I would like to continue with trying to eat better, but I know that I will never be able to fully give up the junk food. I will keep eating the way I am and if I eat something not so good I will make sure to eat something health to someone contradict

Upon beginning college, a common concern running through many young adolescents’ mind is the stigma of the ‘Freshman Fifteen’. You are constantly under the impression that the college diet consists of ramen noodles, pizza, and booze. Veggies, grains, and fruit are impossible. Life in college is already expensive, so how on earth would it be possible to eat in a more healthy manner than this? This stereotype especially weighed heavily on my mind going into college, as my weight has always been something I’ve been concerned with throughout my life.…

After stepping on the scale one Sunday morning, and being in complete shock, and after trying all the possible diets and solutions for me to lose weight, I kept failing and nothing ever seemed to work for me. A time that I have done something that I now believe is wrong was in my freshman year in my Health 101 class. I did not attend class in order to sleep in because I was extremely tired. Attendance was required in my Health 101 class, so I told my friend to sign my name on the attendance sheet even though I was not physically there. The rationalizations that I gave to myself at the time was I am so tired from completing other assignments…
