Essay On My Ideal Mother

Improved Essays
Has anyone ever wished that someone in their family was different from who they really were or an entirely different person? I have. That person was my mother. Her work ethic, education goals, and child care skills were things that I wished were different. Although I have wished for my mother to be someone different, her care and love for my siblings and me helped us understand and love her better. If she changed who she was, then she would no longer be our mother.

My mother has always been a hard worker. In high school she found out that she was pregnant with me, and that pushed her to work harder to pass classes so that she could graduate on time. She had me in high school and still managed to stay on track with her courses and completed

She would have graduated high school without having a child. She would also not have had any anyone to blame for preventing her from attending post secondary school. She would have attended college so that she could have pursued her dream career. After successful completion of her courses she would have then found a job. That job would have worked with her so that she would never have to work too many hours or had too much work where she would have been exhausted upon her arrival home. Then she would have started a family after making sure she had a stable job. With a stable job, she would have also saved money for her children 's’ college fund. After having a family, she would have found balance for work, family, and herself.

On most days she would arrive home from work without being irritated and overly exhausted. She would greet her children with a warm smile and affection. With her family she would often have time set aside for them, making sure she would be able to spend quality time with the children when she wasn 't working. She would also be able to find time for herself so that she would not be overly stressed from work or tired of her family.

Although I have wished for many changes to be made in my mother, I wouldn’t actually want those changes to be made. Many times have I compared her to my ideal mother, but if she changed, then she’d no longer be herself. The things that I love and don’t love, make her my mother, and if it weren’t for those things, then she would not be the person she is and I would have been brought up

Mom was small, a slight 110 pounds but through my eyes, she was large, even after my height surpassed hers. To this day, she would argue that she weighed only 100. The texts The End of Remembering by Joshua Foer and “The Ordinary Devoted Mother” by Alison Bechdel, while are stylistically very different, addresses the same themes of the memory and one’s self-identity. Foer, while not as cold or detached as a scientific paper, uses a more formal and traditional tone when compared to Bechdel who approaches these themes through the lens of a graphic novel. The result of this gives two very distinct perspective on how memories affect one’s self identity. Foer’s theoretical framework of how memory functions and Bechdel’s more anecdotal approach of the effects of her personal memories on her life, provides two very distinctive perspectives on how the prioritization of memories are connected with the creation…

Have you ever thought how about much work it takes to overcome obstacles throughout your life? In "Mother Tongue" Amy Tan knew how hard her mother tried to defend herself from other people, but in instances people said they did not understand what Amy's mother was saying. Our biggest motivators in our lives might not change throughout the years for their hard work and dedication like my mother.…
