For this interview I got the pleasure of interviewing my best friends grandmother, Venita. All of my grandparents have pass away, including my older aunts and uncles, so Venita has always been like a grandmother to me. I have known Venita since I was seven years old, and she always jokes I am her honorary grandmother. Venita is 71 years old and a very vibrant lady. She has never let her age stop her and her mind is very young, she even sometimes shares clothes with my friends and I.
Venita grew up in Lynn, Massachusetts and had one other sister. She grew up with her both her mother and her father in a middle class family. In her time, her friends and her were not wearing Phat Farms, but skirts or dresses everyday. They dressed up nicely most of the time and even to school and they wore dungarees just to play outside. She explained that peer pressure to fit in and make sure you were cool was just the same as it was today. She went to parties just like us, and she even talked about how she smoked at the time just because it was the cool thing to do. She quit shortly after her grandchildren were born. It is comforting to hear that some of the hard times we go through as teenagers, our parent and grandparents also went through
