I have obtained not only extensive marketing and general business knowledge through self-studying for competitive tests, but also practical communication, presentation, and sales skills while representing various business professionals in judged roleplay scenarios. I have placed at the district, state, and international level in my events, and this year I will have competed at the International Career Development Conference for my third year. My parents continue to be great role models in my life and show me what it means to be a servant leader to the community. My father has been a high school football coach my whole life. As a child in south Florida, I watched my father extend his hand to many young Haitian refugees fleeing an oppressive government. Some of the Haitian boys joined the football team and became a part of a family that was missing as a result of their travels and situation.…

While attending Eastern Kentucky University where I obtained my BS in Occupational Therapy, I knew that I wanted to serve others not only in direct patient care, but also in a leadership role. Early in my career I began taking on leadership responsibilities by becoming the lead therapist at the first offsite satellite location at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. I began managing the OTPT location budget, handling the waitlist for therapy services, and serving as the liaison between the satellite location and OTPT management. Taking on these responsibilities was extremely gratifying. I was able to continue treating children while also contributing to the financial success and business functions of our small offsite location.…

From my interview with Donna Portnoy and what I was taught in the course, I comprehended that each school graduation process is different. One school may allow you to graduate without taking hours on an internship, while other school may make it a requirement. Walden University incorporates a Counseling Practicum and two Counseling Internships in your course completion requirements. I’ve learned that throughout the Profession of Mental Health Counseling in whichever career you pick your counseling techniques will be different in the population of people you serve. In contradiction to what I was taught in the class and the Interview I understand that topics presented to be in this Introduction to Mental Health Counseling course.…

What I learned about myself is that I have potential for being a global manager. Looking over the questions, I tend to lack in my experiences more than my actual skills. What I’ve learned is that I can adapt quick and connect with people easily, but I don’t have many experiences in it. To widen my range of experiences I would most likely have to travel more and emerge myself directly into new cultures. I would also have to study different languages a bit more for that is an area I very much lack in.…
