Essay On Catholic Funeral Service

This assignment led me to a Catholic funeral. I attended this service in the town I live in. The service was for the grandmother of one of my youth in my youth group. Many of the group attended and for most of us it was quite different than anything we had been to before. I attend a Christian Church. I will be honest I had many reservation about attending this service and also had many questions after this service. As I approached the Church it was quite beautiful. I loved the stain glass windows. The window designs were so comforting and peaceful. The church itself appeared old, which I love because of the history behind it. There were several steps up to the door and a wheel chair ramp for those with disabilities. I also noticed flowers planted outside the church and the grounds were very well maintained. The exterior of the church was very inviting and was religious in nature. As I entered the sanctuary it was very similar to other funerals in that there was a guest book for me to sign. As people who where Catholic came in they would kneel down and singed Father, Son and Holy Ghost and then sat down. There were two men who conducted the funeral. I can’t think of one thing I enjoyed about it other than being there to support my youth. I have always had a problem with some people believing Catholic is the same as being Christian. It is not. Christians don’t believe in praying others to heaven, purgatory or that you have to confess your sins to a priest. We don’t put one human man on a pedestal and consider him holy. We don’t pray to saints or another person besides God. We believe in salvation. That being said I do believe there are some Catholics that are also saved. Many people who are Catholic now because of the person they married, but grew up in a Christian household. I also don’t believe everyone who claims to be a Christian is
