Personal Narrative-My Freshman Year Of My Life

Improved Essays
Our lives are filled with people. Some we interact with, and some that we’ll never meet. Everyone has people in their lives, but some of us still feel completely alone. This is how I used to feel. Constantly surrounded by others, but always lonely. Freshman year was an awkward year, as I presume it is for most. Walking through the halls, which seemed massive at the time, I was nervous. I felt amazing because I was finally a high schooler but I was now at the bottom of the food chain. I had no say in anything and I was just along for the ride. The summer after 8th grade two of my best friends had moved to another school district and I was distraught. They always made my day better and I didn’t know how I could get through highschool without …show more content…
I wanted to ask her name but instead I just said hi. We get to chick-fil-a and there are a ton of people in line all talking to each other. I get in line with Jamie and realize that I left my money at home. I turned to Jamie and said “I left my money at home so i’m just gonna go sit down with Noah.” “I have money!” she exclaimed. “What do you want?” I didn’t know what to do. I didn’t want to take her money but she was offering so I didn’t want to be weird. I decided to just tell her what I wanted and pay her back later. We got our food and sat down at a table with Noah. A couple minutes after we sat down some guy who looked like he was in his twenties, came over to our table and started talking to Noah. “Did you like that game? I can’t believe you were the doctor, I never would’ve guessed!” They continued their conversation but I didn’t know what they were talking about so I decided to ask. “What game are you talking about?” “It’s a game we played at YoungLife tonight.” The guy I didn't know replied. “You should come next week!” He said bye to Noah and Jamie and walked away. Everyone here keeps inviting me to go to this Young Life thing, even people I don't know. I decided I would go next week. Just to see what it was …show more content…
The people and the leaders there were some of the most loving and caring people I had ever met. None of them judged you, and all of them made you feel included. This was something I needed at a time in my life when I felt like I was alone. I learned a lot. One. Even if it may not seem like it, there are so many people in your life that care about you more than you could even imagine. I felt that my friends cared about everyone else less than me and I wish I never felt that way but I realize now that I have so many people who are on my side. Two. Just because you're going through a rough patch in life, doesn't mean you should give up on finding something that makes you happy. I kept searching for something that would make me feel like I had purpose. I had begun wondering why God had even put me on this earth. The people who came into my life showed me that I had a purpose and that I was loved. Three. Be the light in someone's else's life. You never know what people are going though so you should always try to be nice to people because you may be the one thing that someone finds happiness in. If it weren't for Jamie, I never would've started going to Young Life and I probably would still be searching for a purpose. It wasn't Young Life itself that showed me my purpose in life, but the people in it, and the love that they all showed

"Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty and persistence" I have had many ups and downs over the course of my life thus far. One specific example of this took place during my freshman year of high school. When I started high school it was very challenging for me, partially due to the fact that; during this time, I was lazy, unmotivated and did not really take school seriously. This by far is one of my biggest regrets to this day. Who would ever think that not trying during my freshman year would continue to follow me throughout the course of my academic career.…

In high school my most outstanding example of a time when I set an example as a student leader was my sophomore year in high school. My sophomore year of high school I was brought up to the varsity soccer team, the team that I was on was not extremely hard working and or dedicated. As a sophomore I was afraid to stand up and verbally tell the entire team that we need to step it up, or we are going to have a horrible season, so I decided to make my statement apparent by my actions. First, I started by always being the first one to every practice, putting pressure on my other teammates to do the same, in result everyone started to arrive to practice earlier. The second step I took was difficult since I was one of the youngest players and the…

From that first day, I knew I wasn’t like everyone else.…
