I was told to examine and evaluate three stories and decide one out of the three to break down and analyze the meaning of it in an essay. I decided to write about a story called "Araby." After analyzing, I had to ask myself, why the author chose to use these devices, in these particular ways. What was the author’s purpose to use certain things more than others? I never imagined that there was something more to the story than what I read. I use to have no confidence in my work. I often think I failed my essays, but I usually get at least a B on my essays. Development of me as a writer during this term was hard to imagine. Progressing as a writer took me practice and patience. You get better at math class because of practice or learning the different parts of the body in science because of memorization. During the semester, my class participated in workshops. I would think this was just a waste of time and just plain unnecessary. However, I realized my writing have improved dramatically. Just listening to the feedback and suggestions by my classmates, I realized how helpful their insight was. As more workshops went by, I was able to see parts of my essay that need revision much better. I now got into the habit into editing my work much more than usual. My mood and tone are much better to fit the right
