I observed great leadership qualities in cadet Abenes this week. I believe that similar to cadet Abenes I struggle with delegation because I am a perfectionist and want things to go exactly how I plan; however I have observed that Cadet Abenes is tasking out more duties this semester to take the heaviest weight of the work load off her shoulders and trusting other individuals to complete task which has inspired me to do the same. I believe that with leadership especially in the military that you have to understand that you cannot do every and task the people around you to get things done because you are there to guide your subordinates and they cannot learn anything if you do all the work for them thus burning yourself out and you …show more content…
I didn’t recognize him when I was standing at checkout but I knew that he looked very familiar, I couldn’t figure out from where until I got home. Today, I started to remember and reflect on our conversations we shared on the plane such and current events and how we discussed leadership which was our number one topic of conversation. One of the main things I remember from our discussion was leader’s needs to find balance. A leader can be balanced by maintaining faith or something to believe in, staying physically fit and mentally fit and being confident.

The leadership quality that I observed in Cadet Herrera this week is innovation and communication. This week Cadet Herrera and I sat down to discuss his idea for the spring commissioning ceremony where local JROTCs would come spend the night the day before and learn about the Georgia Regents ROTC program. I believe that his idea was original and good for recruitment for fall 2016.

I have honestly learned the most this semester from working with him in our PLT. Cadet Kirsch and I usually meet outside of PT at least once a week in the Library where he gives me advice and information about how the real army functions and information about OML and different programs and schools within the army as well. Cadet Kirsch knows that I am interested in the intelligence branch, PSYOPs and aviation and will constantly funnel be information. Currently cadet Kirsch is working with his connections with the Intel units on Fort Gordon to see if I can shadow someone next spring. Also, he knows that I am very interested in the news and what’s going on around the world so he will often text me news articles or questions related to the news to check on my learning and to make me research the answers. In my opinion, he takes the knowing your soldiers portion of leadership very seriously and I believe that good leadership should always make it a point of importance to get to know the people they are leading. Mr. Kirsch is a great example of leadership that practices this attribute. Lastly, Cadet Kirsch will give me leadership advice in the position of PSG since he has experience through prior service. I believe that Cadet Kirsch is a very interactive leader and genuinely wants the people around him and fall under his leadership to improve and be better leaders
