“85th Explorer Academy, you are dismissed!”
When my friend, Yesenia, told me about Explorers I was very excited and enthusiastic about doing something different. I have always enjoyed doing different things and learning new things that challenge me. After my friend told me about Explorers, I had to ask my parents permission. At first, I noticed that they seemed a little hesitant just because I would be working with the Police, which is a big responsibility. When I told my friends about this opportunity, they got excited too. As soon as I asked Yesenia for more information, she knew that this was something that I seriously wanted to do. Later that week, my friends and I went to a meeting to acquire all the information. One of my friend’s mom

I was very anxious, but I was looking forward to it. When I arrived at the meeting with my mom, another Advisor Stephanie, talked to my mom and explained to her that she didn’t have to be worried about me. Knowing this my mom was very relieved because she knew that this was something that I wanted to be a part of. When the meeting officially started, at 7:00 PM all the Explorers wearing their uniform, their tan shirts, BDUs, boots, and orange shirt uniform, were to step outside so that the squad leaders and unit leader had everything they needed for the meeting, which was: a notebook, a pen, and the SAR pack, which contains anything that they would use if they were sent out to look for someone missing. When they entered the room building, they were to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. When I saw how organized everything was, I was even more interested. After this, they introduced themselves and I had to introduce myself and why I wanted to join their post. During that meeting, they were choosing new squad leaders and unit leaders, which are roles that Explorers chose so that they could be a bigger role in the Explorers post. Since that was my our meeting, one of the Advisors, Pat Lucy, showed Kexia, Jeni, and I, how to use the spinal board. Group two, which was Martha, Melissa, and other people from the post had to make sure that the hallways were clear. When we were given the okay to enter the crime

I was only 14 when I went on my mission trip, but experiencing that such a young age has shaped me for who I am. I was involved in three mission trips, which all occurred in the States, but in all three-mission trips I helped people who I believe needed it most. I was proud of what I did and I think it was something that not a lot of people did at my age. One of my biggest motivators were the people I was helping. After going on my first trip, I had bonded with others and had made me realize what the real world is like outside a small town in Iowa.…

My previous camping trips I have taken in the past years have been memorable and full of hardship. I consider myself a very outgoing and adventurous person, that is why I go on crazy trips. Canoeing is my preferred way of traveling when touring lakes and rivers such as the Boundary waters and the Flambeau river. Major disadvantage of canoes is that they weigh up to 85 pounds. The weight matters being when crossing land to get to the next lake the canoe goes on your shoulders to carry it.…

The purpose of a mission trip is not to save everyone or solve hunger. Many people who take mission trip have this mentality, and I 'm not going to lie, my first mission trip this is what I expected. I have taken a few mission trips to the Dominican Republic, where I have built relationships with the people down there.…
