Everyone greeted us at the front door. We would get asked questions and told how much we have grown and how much we look like our parents. After talking to a few people, we started to walk over to our great grandma. My great grandpa was sitting at a counter with her daughters and husband. The whole family knew my great grandma would not last every long because her health was declining rapidly, so having the family together for Christmas was really important, especially to her. After we finished visiting with my grandma, my family from Bellevue arrived to the house. My cousins Bailey and Brandon came in and also visited my great grandma before we all headed downstairs with our other three cousins. As dinner was being prepared, my cousins and I would hang out in the basement. All of the adults were in the basement as well playing card games. As the years went by, Rachael and her family became close to me. Every holiday we had somewhere to go and were accepted into Rachael’s family. For the past two years we had Christmas on Christmas Eve night. We have also grown as a family with Rachael’s daughter Dezi having two kids. Something we have done since we started Christmas at my house was playing a game called White Elephant. The game requires everyone to buy one gift and it does not matter what it is. It’s a game we always played and my family enjoyed it. Sometimes the present is funny and makes everyone laugh. We also play a very completive card game called Spoons. At our family Christmas we played a variety of different card games. My aunt and uncle from Dubuque also join us for Christmas. It may not be the same as what my brothers and I experienced, but as a family we enjoy each other’s
