Personal Narrative: My Activities In The IT User Services Department

I am a Computer Technology major who is in the Professional Track. For the Fall Semester 2015, I am doing in my internship in the IT User Services Department. This program was for me to get some experience is a field and everything I learned was hands on. The responsibilities that I had was to help the students, faculty, staff, etc. with any questions they had. I was to answer the phones and assist them. The items that I was supposed to help was with the Wireless Setup, Blackboard, Toromail, myCSUDH, computer applications, or other computer related questions. Finally, I would also had to log in tickets into the ticket system. The tasks were the same every week that I went to intern. They were for me to intern 6 hours a week, but there were days that I stayed longer. My tasks were for me to go sit on the assigned desk sign into the computer set up the Torocheck site, password reset site, and sign into the ticket system. The steps were straight to the point. There were four categories I could choose from. They were Quick Close, Student Related Support, Employee Related Support, and Faculty Related Support. The one that I would use most often was the Quick Close option since it was mostly password resets and it was something simple to do. The other categories were anything that was related to the students, one that was related for only for the faculty members and lastly the employee related options. But sometimes there would be items that would cross over each sections. There was some times that I would have to log in tickets for individuals who was to reserve a lab or do a computer install. There was one time when me and my supervisor went to remove a computer from an office because the staff member call us and needed us to take it in to get it repaired.
