My first day of seventh grade went as bad as any other middle schooler with the bad luck of going to a junior high attached to the high school. I had walked through the doors with caution, and the walk to my locker seemed to be a mile long as I passed all the massive football players and intimidating seniors. We had just finished the problem when I called Mr. Hansen back to check my group’s work. He looked over our paper and told us to fix number three. I checked our work and called him back again to ask what we did wrong; I could not figure out what we were missing. Mr. Hansen looked at me as though I was as oblivious as Snow White when she takes the apple after the queen had already tried twice to kill her. He then sighed and asked what seventeen plus twenty-four was; I told him forty-two with doubt thick in my answer. He laughed as I questioned myself and started counting on my fingers. After nearly five minutes, I finally hung my head as I shamefully told him the correct answer was forty-one. Forty-one electrons. By this time, Mr. Hansen was on the ground with laughter, and I eventually had to laugh with him at my own stupidity. These teachers love to compliment students on simple things such as: clothes, hair styles, nails, and shoes. A Rickords teacher is always dressed up nicely, and they love when students also dress for success. These teachers rarely have a bad day, so you never have to be cautious about if they will snap easy that day or not. In fact, these teachers do not usually snap even if they are having an off day. However, a Rickords teacher does not tolerate immature behavior; they have high expectations for each student, so students behave well in these teachers’
