An experience that is genuinely unique to me

Experience of a person differs from each other. I remember that day 2072/01/12 Saturday at 11:56 am, I was doing my work in my house at Kathmandu at the time of the 7.9 quake. It feels happy that I can announce that I am finally safe.

While talking about my experience, being the citizen of developing country, the experience during earthquake was unforgettable for me. It is called the dark day of every citizens living in NEPAL. People were homeless and they were doing their effort to survive. It was the day which should never come again.

I was in the middle of central Kathmandu when the earthquake initially hit, suddenly it seemed as if the ground had dropped away from where it had been

It was Saturday. I was reading for my exams in my room and I heard some sound and in a moment, I felt like someone is shaking me. When I came to know that it was an earthquake, I was more scared. My mind wasn’t working properly but somehow, I managed to come out of the building. There were around 100 people outside who were crying and scared. After some minutes when it stopped I went to my room and I started my reading. As soon as I reached my room, it was again an earthquake. I managed to come outside and I never tried to go to my room that day. We were all sitting there in a field and there was nothing to eat. We all were feeling so hungry but there was nothing to eat. In addition to this it was raining all over there. With the wet clothes, we were standing outside the house but we were scared to go to the rooms to get …show more content…
I found the roads were cracked. When I went to Dharuhera (the tallest building of NEPAL) I saw it was all cracked and its bricks were all lying down. Here comes the scariest moment, I saw some people who were there to climb Dharuhera were lying and were dead. It was the first time I saw the group of dead people and I was so scared. We were praying god to live. Kathmandu was a nightmare of falling buildings and crushed people. I can’t imagine that moment when Dharuhera broke down, people were scared. It took many lives who were climbing there. It was the reflection of Kathmandu valley so many people were there to celebrate their holiday. When this happened, it was like an unexpected nightmare for every people. Rescue team rescued remaining life but many of them were already dead. It was a rainy day with dark clouds so the situation was very bad and I can never imagine this situation as Dharuhera is no more in existence.

My heartbeat was going faster to faster as I was shocked through this incident. I felt sick, I got headache as it was never stopping. I was shaking whole day due to this disaster and it was never stopped that day. The whole day went outside my home and that night too we all were out of our

    A. Before the L'Aquila earthquake in 2009 people were starting to prepare for a earthquake but not a 6.3 earthquake. However, there was miscommunication between the scientist and the people of L'Aquila. Since earthquakes are the hardest natural disaster to predict, nothing is always 100 percent accurate. The seismologist involved with the making of predictions did not want to scare the people and make them prepare for an earthquake that was not going to come, when the seismologist were not even postie of the earthquake coming.…

In the book The Big Truck That Went By: How the World Came to Save Haiti and Left Behind a Disaster by Jonathan M. Katz we learn that all help is not helpful, but we can change that. In 2010 an earthquake hit Haiti, being one of the worse things to happen to this already poor country. This book provides us with a lot of information about the before and after of the Haiti earthquake. Help was provided to help rebuild, but some solutions worked and some didn’t. Instead of focusing on what will be noticed by the outside world, Haiti needed what would help them rebuild as a country.…

When the Towers Fell, We Took a Stand In a recent Ted talk presentation, executive director of the Albert Einstein Institution, Jamila Raqib, discusses how she knows the secret on how to resolve conflict in a non-violent technique. She goes on to state how there are over one hundred techniques of non-violent actions that can be taken to resolve harsh issues instead of using violence. Although I understand what she is saying and agree to a certain extent, I think living during the time of a terrorist attack has made me realize there are certain circumstances that can only be handled with violence. If we as a country did not result to violence and retaliate against Bin Laden, our country would have lived in constant fear, there would have been more attacks organized by him, and other terrorists from other locations would have seen our country as weak and possibly set forth plans to attack us also.…

Or a real, loving, caring higher power whose always has your back? A Christian God is a God who holds all morals and who does not want to see His people hurting, but wanting them to succeed and have a great life.…
