On my first day of college I was incredibly nervous about multiple obstacles I was about to face. One of my biggest worries was how I would manage to pass a college English class. However, when I walked in the classroom and saw my old high school classmates Jace and Lauren, I became a bit more comfortable. I was also relieved to discover that the class was very small and the teacher was not scary at all, unlike my prior belief.
In high school, English class was quite easy for me, except for my senior year. Prior to my senior year I was always in the honors classes and had no problem making an A. Though, when I look back on those earlier high school years my teachers were not that great. I feel pretty confident to say they most probably never

I have learned how to insert my own creativity into my writing and fully express my thoughts in unique ways. I still sometimes go crazy with comma insertion, but I really believe I have eased up a little on that whole issue. One of the biggest things that has changed about my writing process is my word count. I am no longer worried about reaching a certain amount of words; I just write all my thoughts and most of the time I find myself way over the minimum. I also feel a lot more confident to proofread another’s paper. Before taking this course I almost felt as it I was doing the person an injustice by proofing their paper, because I honestly had no clue what I was looking for. Aside, from the grammatical and meaning part of writing an essay this course has given me something very special and that is a love of writing. I never in a million years thought I would utter those words, but I actually have really enjoying writing papers for this class. Looking back on this past semester, though I still have room for improvement with some grammatical issues and other writing errors, I still believe I deserve an A for my …show more content…
I have been to every class period this semester and have been prepared almost every time. There was only one time in which we had to read a story and I only read half because I had spent that entire afternoon studying for a chemistry and biology exam, which just happen to be the story we would have a pop quiz on. However, I can honestly say that is the only assignment I have not put all my effort into for this coarse. I also do not believe I have every been a rude or disruptive student. Therefore, with these ideas in mind I do believe I deserve to end this class with an A.
I was really jealous of many of my friends whom tested out of all of their English courses; however, after taking this class I am very fortunate that I didn’t because I needed this course. There was much I needed to learn about writing and myself; and this coarse has helped me to do just that. However, there is still much I have yet to learn and I am looking forward to discovering more knowledge in English

When I first came into this classroom, I felt it was going to be useless because I already took English 110 and English 111 in high school. The reason was because I got the opportunity to study English 110 and 111 due to my grades. What made me have to take this class again in college is because I wasn’t planning to go to ICC, so I didn’t pay for it as a credit. What took me by surprise is that this semester of English was quite challenging but also fun at the same time.…

Coming into English 101, I really did not know what to expect. This was my first college writing class so I had no idea what it was going to be like. In high school I would have considered myself to be a decent writer, not the best or not the worst. I would never impress anyone with my writing skills but I could still come across as educated on my topic. I had passed the AP English exam my senior year which gave me more confidence heading into college but I knew that college would be a whole different ball game.…

I love History and English and have taken all honors and AP classes in these disciplines. I am a hard worker and enjoy learning. I would describe myself as a well-rounded student who has balanced high school between academics, family, work, sports, and outside activities. I did not take easy classes so I could have received all A's. Instead, I took more challenging courses and sometimes, I struggled. I believe that I learned and absorbed more out of my high school experience. I have tried to live by the motto that says, "Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game." To experience…

English was always tough for me personally, since the first grade. I had always struggle to get through the classes. It partially was due to my negative thinking of the class. My thoughts on the subject were that I was not skilled in writing. With this mentality, I never really applied myself, but coming to college dramatically changed this. My goal was to get better than a C, which I had all four years in high school. It was not because of my writing skills I got a C it was partly due to my engagement and my enthusiasm my teachers like about me. This year had to be different. I believe it was because the right teacher knew how to reach into me and pull the best out of me. With the end of the semester here, I am looking…

It feels like so long ago when I first began this English course. I can remember being so excited about the class topic, racism and social justice, which I felt that I had a lot of passion for. Little did I know that I would have to gather up even more enthusiasm and passion to be able to continue writing papers about the same topic all semester long. This course has tested my endurance, and at many times my patience, and for that I am thankful because I know in the end, it has made me a better writer. When I began this English course I was not the writer I am today. I wrote with several errors. I always thought I was an okay writer, but I did not realize I was not good enough to get the grades I wanted in college. I feel like I can say my writing has improved because of this class. For one I now know how to correctly do MLA format. I have also learned that the spelling and grammar check is your best friend while writing a paper. Not only have I learned how to improve the content of my papers but I have also learned how to lengthen my papers. Before this class I could barely write a page, but now I go beyond that. I have never understood the purpose in writing essays before but because of this class I do. Over the course of this semester…

Every college freshman has to face an English class. It can be a little overwhelming at times for some at first because unlike high-school, where one meets with teachers an hour a day for 5 days a week, in college, students are to meet with their professor 2 or 3 times a week for only 2-3 hours a week. So, students have to adjust themselves to the schedule and…

At the beginning of this English course, I was so nervous and scared that I would fail. I do not think I have ever been a good writer. It has always terrified me because I have difficulty putting my thoughts down on paper. This course has proven to be highly inspiring to me as well as frightening. It has really taught me more about the understanding of the writing process and structure, in which helped me to not focus so much on the actual writing parts. Not focusing so much on the writing, helped me to really release my thoughts down on paper because I was worried more about the structure, organization, and proper formatting. I have accomplished a lot over this course I once believed to be unattainable. With my newfound knowledge and experiences…

This English class has been very helpful in my efforts to improve my writing abilities, but has also been very challenging due to there being a different median for every essay. It’s been a heavy work load especially this semester since I decided to enroll in five classes, but in the end it has been very beneficial indeed. I can’t say that writing essays has been one of my strong points but I believe that this course has helped me improve tremendously and it has also made me feel a lot more comfortable with my writing.
