I have also really enjoyed getting the chance to create 3D pieces in terms of sculptures. The course has given me a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental characteristics of shapes, space and making an impact which I believe are lesson that translate hugely into fashion design, as well as an awareness of how a piece can and should affect someone. I have improved my drawing skill which effects my fashion illustrations. I was recently placed 3rd in city wide art exhibition for my oil painting ‘Split’ which showcases the product t of the lessons I learnt in the course. The subject has also encouraged my naturally expressive way of working which has allowed me to experiment with different mediums and matials which influences how I present my designs as well as go about making, by experiencing draping on the stand and thinking of methods I have never seen done before by making unique fabric …show more content…
Like everyone else I adore Alexander McQueen’s creations, he is the designer that opened my eyes to the theatre and wonder of fashion and he has been an idol of mine from being 13. The brand MONSE, founded by designers Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia Spring/Summer 2016 collection inspires me as the emphasis is heavily based on the structure of the garments and in a way cannot hide behind extravagant decorative features which I respect. Another brand I have recently found and have fallen for is Ground Zero, the Chu brother have a refreshing anti-fashion attitude, there graphic prints intrigue me the most as this is a medium I have not yet fully explored. The Sibling Autumn/Winter 2015 collection is what I found tantalising to the senses and the unapologetic bold pink and contrasting textures stuck out to me this year and have inspired one of my designs for my A2 faux fur coat
