Reflective Essay: The First English Composition In The Classroom

Beginning English composition two I was anxious and concerned about the level of difficulty of the course. My experience with English composition one was challenging to say the least. Even when I put countless hours of dedication and effort into each essay, my grades would fall short despite the time put in. This experience lead to my apprehension towards taking English Composition two here at Auburn. To my surprise, English Composition Two has been a success for me. I have made tremendous progress in the quality of my essays and general writing skills. Not only did my grades show improvement, but I could feel from essay to essay that I was becoming a better writer. This is the first English class I have ever taken that I can confidently say has transformed me into a better writer and student. I have always struggled to organize my ideas on paper in a way that was both clear and insightful to the reader; In English Composition One and high school I vividly remember being told over …show more content…
At first I assumed this class was going to be too challenging based on my experience in English Composition one; I even considered taking this class at a community college as opposed to taking it here at Auburn. In the end, I am so thankful I decided to stay in Auburn to take this corse. Dr. Petrucci takes the time to fully understand on his students’ topics for each assignment and how the topic pertains to each student’s future majors and careers. Because of this I have had the opportunity to learn so many important lessons that I can utilize in my future classes and even career life after Auburn. I am truly in awe of how much this course has taught me and how it has actually transformed me into a higher quality writer and given me a clearer understanding of what career path I want to take. I know that the writing skills I have acquired in English Composition Two will continue to be beneficial to me for years to
