My first memory of education is actually pre-school. I attended the Metro-Tech which is downtown Kansas City, Missouri. I don’t remember much but what I do remember is that I hated naps, loved arts and crafts, cookies and being there with my good friend Aaron. However, if we wanted to go deeper I would say my most memorable education moment was in the third grade in Mrs. Merene Class I and experienced racism for the first time. That is a school year I could never forget. It was in the 1995 and I was attending Fox Hill Elementary School in North Kansas City. It was during a food period (breakfast or lunch) and I was drinking my milk that happened to be chocolate and trying to finish it so i can get to class. All of this led to me voluntarily leaving the school. That was not the college experience that I was looking for. The school itself had no organizations other than the typical PWI sorority. So, there was nothing to do but drink and party. So I left not only because of what I was seeing in myself but because academically I was not feeling like I would come out on top with a job. When I returned home I took classes to get my G.P.A up enough to transfer to another school and that 's when I found Avila. I love Avila! It has so many different organizations and sports and everyone is friendly. That makes for a good academic environment. Since I have been at Avila University I have realized the broad spectrum that is available to me as a choice career within kinesiology. I have also realized that I have gifted hands and that massage therapy could be in my future. My dream would be to get my B.S in Kinesiology from Avila University and then obtain my Massage Therapy license and work as a Sports Massage Therapist at a university while I get my Master’s Degree in Athletic
