In the beginning when starting my practicum I had been exposed to diversity, just not in the elderly population. During my high school education, it taught me how different we are and the level of diversity I was exposed to with language, ethnicity and various diverse groups. Regardless, I have to consider that my experience in this population has grew throughout my time at my internship. If you refer to my reflection log from the first week, starting August 24th I professionally introduced myself to the residents for they can become familiar with who I am and the purpose of my internship. While jumping into some activities, I got the chance to get to know some of the residents. Therefore, as time continued I started having a resident caseload that I saw weekly, or biweekly to check in, discuss and see if they needed any help with anything. While meeting with those residents, I am aware that each person I came across was from a different background or culture that makes them unlike others that they are surrounded by.
